Horizontal vs Vertical Lights.

I run 1K hortil;ux in the horizontal with a large parabolic hood.I love flowering under my vertizontals which are basically 4 ft octaganol hoods. They are great if you're flowering larger plants

So..

Lets just stay things are not going as good with the current light mover.. I am very disappointed in hydrofarms quality.

The good.

Somebody has offered me another 1KW for a very low price. Its a possibility to go this way and install multiple lights.

The thinking.

I really _hate_ hanging blower hoses. not to mention the additional length one has to add for the stroke of the mover.

The new solution.

Open air horizontals in large parabolic hoods.

-I prefer horizontal lights for directness of bulb placement.

-The vertical spread is good but not so much that the light is going sideways vs.. down.

-Now it looks like heat is going to be an issue but more of a keeping things warm so its too
my advantage to warm up the place using open air, and just keep recirculating house air in the grow room.

-The horizontal means I can keep my headroom. I dont loose a foot from the long bulb.

-Actual grow area is 88 X 48. (7.3 ft by 4 foot) The max coverage for a 1kw is 10x10.
Its possible my mover is overkill.

Final post.

I finally have decided on a light reflector.

Sunsystems Vertizontal reflector.

Why I chose the vertizontal.

- Correct bulb placement, I think its more effective to place the bulb horizontally.

- Horizontal gives me more headroom to grow with.

- Heat really is not an issue, in fact I will be trying to use the waste heat to keep the growroom warm.

- Better light footprint. Its not always about maximum penetration. This is an ideal light pattern for a 1kw light IMHO. It should cover the grow more evenly.

I'd like to thank everybody for their input, I admit it took me a bit to come around to the idea but sometimes it takes me a second or to for it to gel.
