I think it would if you had the rockwool cube in the bucket w/ perlite & vermiculite. Have you had success using rockwool in the past? I've not had any luck with it, but some have had terrific results using rockwool. This method is pretty easy...I know you could germ a seed in a small 12oz. cup and flower in that same cup w/o ever transplanting the plant.

if you've already got the plant in a rockwool cube and are going to be adding perlite, that works fine. That is how I do all mine, but have only tried in the small blocks I think the 2x2 ones. As for 100% rockwool, not sure but if you wanted to do that, you might as well just do hand watered rockwool without a bucket...

:yeahthats

If he were to keep the plant in the rockwool, how would it effect the frequency and quantity of feed needed?

cool guys for the info . i was going to use some mini rockwool cubes to fill the pot , not just a large cube , I think i will stick to hand watering this round until I get some coco coir or perlite /verm

Do you mean the baby rockwool cubes, its more like filler material? I think if you used that in a hempy style, it would probably work fine, but have never tried it.

I would guess that you'd have to soak the rw mini cubes just as you would soak the bigger ones right?

Hi Folks I have been putting my plants in 1 liter hempies and am using flora nova nutes I would like to feed them 1 quarter strength nutes every time I water. I have two questions would this be okay to do and how often should I flush? Thank you in advance

you can start at 1/4 nutes, but i'd suggest reading the plants and going up ... moving up from there you can probably get full strength at some point ... and you technically don't have to flush, but i like to every month or so to prevent any buildups.

hope that helps goodluck and welcome to icmag!

right on sg. jrhoust-my plants have never been able to take full strength nutes. I'm at quarter strenght for veg & half strength for flower. Your plants will tell you what they need.

I concur, the plants will tell you what they need. It takes awhile to see, if you jus started out growin, atleast that's how it was for me. I'm at 4 weeks flowering now, Ive been at or near, full strenght for about 2 weeks now. The plants tell you what's up.

Whats up. I use flora micro and bloom, and i feed every water using the lucas ratio of 3ml:6ml per gallon. However im thinking of getting the floranova bloom and feeding 3ml instead

hello everyone, just got my new 1000hps bulb in and installed big diff. i bought the ballast used on ebay, and have been running the old bulb that came with it. well i did 4 more final buckets, 2.5 g trash cans, gonna give them a whirl. veg'em for awhile. i just packed the 4x3 with the new 600 and its 12/12 starting today. thinking about a scrog for the 5g buckets. in 2 months im gonna have an empty 4x6, so maybe a 2x3 screen on 2 buckets made out of pvc.

Hm, I thought the lucas formula was:

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle

Where did you get this 3ml-6ml number?

Hey Giant,
I think of the lucas "formula" as more of a ratio of 1:2. for GH M/B nutes. But their are other ratios, Rez has one thats 6:9 i think, and theirs others. i keep a 18 gallon tote of 3:6 ready plus a few 5 gallon buckets of just ro water. 8:16 is pretty strong on some plants so be carefull. i like easy and the same water/nute all the time is easy. next is a pump with drippers:eggnog:

Hm, that ratio makes sense.. :xmasnut: I am hoping that what I have been feeding them isnt too strong in that case. I have been adding 5 and 10ml to a 2.5 gal jug and using that to water with. Although it has been about 3 days I have not seen any burning yet. The clones were only about 6" tall when I stuck them in there.

I think that is going to be part of my next major upgrade. A large drum, pump, sentinal timer, etc.

Thats a lite ratio, mix up a straight 2 G into the 2.5G can, feed at 6:12 for 2 gallons every water, if you see any burn at the tips hit it with ro water. its all strain dependent, some more some less, but most in the middle thank god

Hm, they looked a little yellow this morning, with some very slight tip burn. I hit them with RO water pH'd down a bit. I am assuming they were burned, but maybe its a deficiency.. ?? I guess Ill know soon enough..

Hey Giant, how old are the plants? 'Cause you may need to weaken a little bit until they get a little more established. Sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread.
