Two different kali mist phenos, one spiceytaste/ok yield/bad high, one chocolate taste/frisbee high/fantastic yielder. 5 gallon bucket & 2gal I think. Topped, LST'd bush for full canopy.

I just keep the main buds. The rest is about equal weight and gets turned into bubble hash. I'd like to have another foot of width on the 2' side, but what can you do. I'm just glad for the endless supply of good weed. BUT, back to the original question, IMO 600 watts will do just fine in that space. 600 watts HPS is pretty close to a (almost) 1 year old 1000 watt MH anyway. Maybe brighter :) MH loses peak brightness rather quickly in its life span.

I just ordered a 600W HPS lumatek.. the anticipation is killer lol. My current magnetic ballast is old as shit.

always look to your limiting factor, and the op's limiting factor is that his cab is 2' deep. the only lamp with a footprint that size is a 250. a 400 might be ok but it really wants a footprint about 2.5' deep - so for that reason i would definitely for multiple 250s.

Rereading this thread, VerdantGreens wisdom reminded me of another, often overlooked point. Plants do the major job of air cooling the grow space themselves, especially when there's a big canopy of healthy (cool from transpiration) leaves absorbing most of the light coming off the lamp.

Its not rocket science, although a pound out of a 600 watt does take some practice. Get your basics right temp, hum, light etc. then do it again and again and again, dont add more light just pimp all 600 watts, til you reach your goal. its different for everybody, it all depends on how well you listen&learn. you dont need a whole bunch of fancy equipment either, your room doesnt depend on. ive seen amazing things happen with minimal simple equipment.

Besides, the whole grams per watt calculation is silly as it stands. Any thoughtful scientific minded person can see that we're missing one HUGE parameter that I hinted at in my first post; Time. Should read grams per watt over X time. If you really want to get down to the meat of the matter, genetics must be figured in first like this; Strain X yields X grams per watt over X amount of time. Thats a discussion we could sink our teeth into!

I wonder in what terms the CFO of an indoor, hydro vegetable company thinks about this?

There is probably a formula of sorts that incorporates all expenses and yields on a monthly or weekly basis. Gram per watt and gram per watt per month fail to take area into account. Just "thinking" out loud here. A closet grower in their own home with one light incurs relatively low expenses and doesn't factor rent and the entire electric bill into the grow expenses. A commercial grower has to factor in mortgage/rent and much higher utility and supply bills.

yeah definitely, i've got 500w in a 2x6 area. It's in two 250's tho. I guess a 600 could be done with really good ventilation.
