Ok here is what I have

Wardrobe closet

length - 22"
Width - 33"
Height - 60"

Have five girls in there now

Also using 400watt cooltube.

It is crowded but I have them organized pretty well.

Anyway next go round I have a sliding door closet

length - 23"
Width - 65"
Height - 90"

Now I am curious as to will I get good coverage in there with a 400w cool tube.

Also how many plants do you think I should go for.

Also I am concerned about light coverage being that I have a length of only 23"

Based on my dimensions what is best way to set up this cool tube.

Also being that is a sliding door closet I have been debating in my head how to set up the ventilation (there are 2 sliding doors)

I actually have an extra door, so I am trying to figure how to modify, but still maintain the movability of a sliding door.

Tell me what you think. All advice is appreciated

check out my setup, may give you an idea.
one day i plan to remove the sliding doors and build a frame. they are a pita!

There is room for two 400's with that much square footage. That would be the best solution. To stay with the single bulb you would do well to section of about half the space to grow in.

To get the best coverage of a rectangular space with a single horizontal bulb you want to have the top and bottom of the bulb across the shortest dimension (23") so the sides of the bulb that emit most of the light are facing the long dimension.

Great Advice, I never knew you positioned the bulb that way to get best coverage of light.

Problem is being a cool tube, I don't think I can set that up along with the flexible ducting.

My cool tube is 19inches long

Just curious as to if anyone is using a closet with a narrow profile, and using a cool tube.

I know most will say an air cooled hood is the best bet, but they are just so much money

If I have to I will DIY one. I have read some good post on this.

Tell me what advice you have

A single, stationary, 400 is bad choice for a garden of that shape. A garden of 2'x3' is closer to what you want. Reflectors don't produce square footprints and as choch mentions light goes to the sides but, only so far effectively.

HIDs throw shadows forward, not light. To cover that space the lamp would require hanging too high to be of any real use. Hung at a proper height, the majority of the grow is un-lit. You'll want multiple HIDs or a light mover.

Ok understood

For my closet setup do you think I would be better with a air vented hood ??

Also one final note

I have square pots 6 3 gallon square

Also 3 four gallon rectangle

And ten rectangle 5 gallon pots

I only plan on using 6 pots but they can fit side by side in the 23 inch length I have

Yes and maybe not. Cooling is good but ...

How concerned are you with stealth? All fans make noise. More fans, more noise. More noise, more questions. Questions bad. Very, very bad.

Can you punch a hole through the ceiling and put fans in the attic? Anyone in the room with the fan will know it's running but, how many people visit your attic?

You can hear my freezer across the garage but, freezers are supposed to make noise. Closets are not.

Well to be honest the reason I want to go in the closet is to be more stealthy than I am now.

Using a wardrobe closet is ok, but not to stealthy.

My main concern is to have everything in the closet just in case someone were to come over.

All this is done in my bedroom, and the only one who goes in there us myself and my wife.

Noise is not to much of an issue. Currently I use

Stanley blower fan to exhaust the wardrobe closet.

6inch 12volt 250cfm fan for the cooltube. (Using a variable 3v to 12v adapter to control speed and noise)

And then a 4inch 12v 235cfm fan to inject air in.

Also have 4 2 inch holes in bottom to allow more air.

Then a 6 inch oscillating fan inside the wardrobe closet.

Also installed A/C in the bedroom to help keep temps under control.

I definitely would like to set the fans up differently for the closet.

I can not cut any holes into attic. I am renting. I do however have an extra sliding door for the closet, and will modify that for the intake and exhaust.

My main concern is light coverage area. Originally I had thought about placing each pot just right next to each other to give them more space. (They are crowded in the wardrobe closet now).

But after reading on the light coverage I think I will line the buckets up two by two.

I at least want to grow six in there.

Tell me what you think

I have to back out if you're using intake fans. That's venting for smart people, I do venting for dummies.

At 2 deep, I wouldn't do a lot of vegging the first run. I know it's about maxing the space rather than the plant but, I hate having to throw out weed along the way. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
