My 2nd Grow

Here's a picture of my current grow, fifteen plants at seven weeks old. 8 of them were grown from feminized seeds imported from Amsterdam- 4 'Skunk #1's, 3 'Pineapple Punch's and 1 'White Diesel' from the Flying Dutchman Seed Co. The remaining seven are bagseed- 5 'Green Crack's and 2 'Funk Berry's.
They have been grown from seed in Miracle-Grow Organic Choice Potting Soil fertilized with Sunleaves Mexican Bat Guano (10-2-1), General Organics Cold Processed Seaweed (2-0-3), Earthworm Castings (1-0-0) and coffee grounds. For the first two weeks they were kept under two 40w flourescent lights and for the last five weeks since October 28th they have been vegging under a 1000w Metal Halide lamp.
When I begin flowering on December 14 I will change my nutrients to Sunleaves Indonesian Bat Guano (5-12-2) and Earth Juice Bloom (0-3-1), and switch to an 1000w High Pressure Sodium bulb.

(This is not where I keep the plants, just where I take them to water them and let the pots drain.)

Any comments or suggestions? Am I going to need more nutrients? I was considering purchasing some bone meal for when I start flowering for a Phosphorous boost. I'm having some issues with the ph of my soil, the current level is an average of 7.5, I might invest in some Earth Juice PH Down to lower it to 6.5-7. Let me know what you think.

I think your plants look beautiful BR. Did you add anything to the MG soil? How are you fertilizing, did you mix it into the soil, using teas, or topdressing? I think with your guanos, you don't need the Earth Juice.

Thanks for the compliment. I didn't add anything to the soil, I regret not using some perlite but I haven't had any problems with drainage. The seaweed and bat guano I have been mixing with water, and the worm castings and coffee grounds have been used as a topdressing.

BR- If you buy bagged organic soil, ALWAYS add perlite and dolimite lime, it saves you major headaches down the Road!! :wallbash:

I also have a 400w HPS to use as supplemental lighting and cover a wider area. Also, some of the bagseed plants will probably turn into males. I expect to have about a dozen females in the end.

Thanks for the tip but could you be more specific? What kind of problems will develop without perlite and lime?

I'm not saying you'll have problems in your grow without adding perlite and dolimite lime, they are more used as a preventitive measure. Perlite helps prevent water-loss and soil compaction. Dolimite lime is a mineral that reduces/removes cal/mag & Ph issues.

Yeah maybe if I had used dolomite lime then I wouldn't be having issues with soil ph. However it's my understanding that lime sweetens soil and raises ph- my soil is already alkaline, I need something acidic to lower the ph.

I don't have a Ph meter, never needed one. Although, lately I've been thinking about getting one just to see what my soil runs.

Looks like plant #2 is showing some male pre-flowers. I had better pull it today or tomorrow. Does anyone have experience with making cannabutter from a male plant's leaf trim?

If it's just one plant, I'd just sit down with a knife and fork and eat the whole plant raw.

Do you plan to make butter from the leaves of a plant that is immature? I normally compost my water leaves and make butter from the bud trim and popcorn bud after the plant is fully mature. I don't think the leaves would have much in them at this point.
