How many hours of darkness before harvest?

I prefer 24 to 36 hours after a a week of flush. Also like to keep it extra chilly for the last few weeks. HappyDog

At night, carbohydrates and plant starches stored in fan leaves, and used to give the plant energy to grow during the day photo period are stored in the plants roots. I have heard through some research that the process of those starches takes 4 hours to get from leaves and buds, down through the plants vascular system or inside the stalk to the roots. The plant starts drawing those starches back into leaves 4 hours before lights turn on. So I harvest after between 4-8 hours of darkness. That's prob all you need. 24 hours or more of darkness sounds like it would guarantee all those things would be out of buds and leaves. I would try it but some strains I use are done at different times.

Not potency only taste and very little. Some people claim the extra darkness stresses plants to produce more resin and trichomes and give up to 3 days dark before harvest. They could be right, but healthy unstressed ripe weed flushed and harvested after 4 hours of dark and less then 8 hours is perfect in my opinion. Sometimes I have to harvest with lights on. It's hard to tell the difference but noticeable. I notice the difference in taste between harvest in day or night mostly with outdoor plants. They just taste sweeter I you take em at night. I usually hang the plant in darkness when I harvest.The important thing IMO is whether you want to harvest hydrated plants or not.I usually water the day before harvest and use a dehumidifier in my cure room to prevent mold.Hydrated plants take longer to dry making a smoother better cure
