thanks, everyone, for your contributions. some nice chillums up there! ^

Kaneh - you are teetering on trolling, old fruit!

Believe me, I have smoked chillums with THE most obsessed Italian chillum freaks in various parts of the subcontinent (and over a LONG time). I know a good chillum when I see one an, more importantly, when I smoke one. And as I have smoked all but the smallest (antique) chillums I own, I can assure you that my pushkar black chillum and the biggie in the middle are every bit as good as the hand-made italian teracotta $200 a pop chillums I have shared with others (taking into account size considerations). It's easy to find and buy a fabulous chillum (like those lovely Alverman chillums above) if you are willing to spend alot of $. Finding an equally good chillum for just a few bucks takes time and (I flatter myself only a little) skill. Mine may look like "tourist crap" but, you'll have to take my word for it, really aren't.

I do agree with you about clay though. My view is that well made clay chillums will always be best but that glass (for example) offer a fun and interesting alternative and they shouldn't be rejected out of hand.

Anyway, go on, drag your pieces down from the attic (the attic? do you like smoking with the spiders or something? what are they doing in the attic?), so we can all have a look. You seem to know what you are talking about so I am sure you have some nice pieces. So share!

I love my chillums, does anyone else like put between your pointer and middle finger and then I like inhale through your fist in a way, kinda hard to explain at the moment but my bro said its how jamaicans smoke

Yes, with the other hand cupped beneath. Classic "split finger" method. I actually prefer smoking chillum like this, so long as they are small enough to go neatly between my fingers.

Sorry to hear that, whiterabbit. Sadly not an uncommon tale.

In case anyone is interested in such things, there are a few antique chillums on sale on ebay at the moment (just search for 'chillum' and include objects worldwide). I am not one of the sellers! I wouldn't necessarily recommend them as smoking objects as they are too small (to my mind) and made of wood/metal (see comments above) but they are interesting pieces, of some historical note... one in particular (15cm indian metal chillum, from Antik Asia) is quite fine and would probably be good for smoking.

Cool, man. Do post some pics of your pices when you get them...

... I persuaded myself into splashing out on one of the chillums I mentioned above (tsk tsk - Christmas extravagance). I will post pics of it when it comes through

I believe you m8!:santa1:

I have couple chillums in attic that are excatly like yours!
I have the one made of soapstone with ganja leaf and the pushkar one. I haven't smoke those in 15 years, so they can stay in attic. ;)

I don't wan't to post picture of the one I'm smoking because it's unique and could be connected to me. It's not a too fancy anyways.
...Well, I could post pic of the inside! This is how chillum should look, when you look in (IMNSHO):

More than 20$ is too much!!!???

No offence anyone, if youre happy with you're glass "chillum", so be it.
Just remember it's doesnt have anything to do with the BOM!!!:abduct:

.

it doesnt have anything to do with the bom because its glass or because its not a 200$ alvermann ?
