Non Pineapple C99 anyone?

So about 4-5 years ago I grew out some cindy 99 f2's from the GN03 collection. I ended up getting 2 of the 3 different phenos I've heard of c99 having. Actually I think because they were f2's of a super stabilized strain, there might even only be those two representations.

anyway, the phenotype I preferred was a longer flowering, non fruity/pineapple plant. It grew longer, sativa looking nugs, stretched, and flowered for about 8-10 days longer than the pineapple pheno. Was kind of a spicey/skunky smoke and very very strong. I was new to growing then, and hadn't yet mastered the art of cloning. This is my biggest regret in my growing career. That plant was fire and I failed to keep it.

I was able to get a c99 clone passed to me, but of course it was the pineapple pheno. my problem is I already have 3-4 very similar tasting/smelling strains, so that kind of smoke doesn't really get me off anymore.

Anyone ever keep this pheno? Anyone know of a breeder that has bred towards these characteristics? Some of the best herb I've ever smoked, and I dropped the ball! I need that 62 day sativa c99!!

I have 2 c99 on the windowsill! One smells like grapefruit...one like a mad mix of stuff but NOT fruit! It branches more, was mutated and stunted. Airy buds, low density and crystally.

yeah, what I'm looking for is very specific. In my mind the grapefruit pheno is bunk. I've grown it out multiple times from clone, and it just doesn't do it for me. I saw that Mosca has a C99 release, but I'd like to know which plant he used in his breeding project. If it's a pineapple mom, then there's zero chance of getting what I'm looking for. I'm not gonna buy second hand seeds bred possibly not even from bros grimm's original line. I know the GN03 collection was f2's from the original release of Cinderlla 99.

The plant you are talking about popped up in rolanterroy's C99. I believe they all sold out pretty fast but I'll ask him if he is going to make more.

i did the same thing .started out and missed a gno3 collection c99 that till this day i cry for not cloning it .strong pineapple smell in flower but turned to a cat piss smell after the cure .
it had to be a elite 2 hits and all folks did was stare at the walls and say dame, dame thay could not believe the high. i did cross a male from the pack of the gno3 c99 to a jlp sourdog
and am just waiting for the day i can start to grow again.

but some did have a pineapple\ skunk smell to them .but all plants was great smoke .but none matched the one that got away. i do have a pack of wallys grapefruit x c99 that i have on ice and hope they survive till i get to grow again one day.

Hope you find what you searching for TMB. Been on the search for a gn03 c99 pheno that smell of hawaiian punch fruit drink. Fruit punch to the max and fuzzy look buds! Incredible soaring long lasting enjoyable social laughing stoned off you behind kind of girl. Let her go one day, never to have her again. Then often wonder if it is the allure of her memory that make her so great, or if these would be the same feelings if she were kept around? You do not know what you have until it go, but also some thing seem better once they are seem impossible to obtain again (want what you do not have).

Just a hint, for all those who lost a love one in the gn03 c99. Gypsy have mention a release of gn c99 again in the future, so no worry mates. Not so sure if same breeder to be used again, but can be sure gypsy have the diverse c99 stock to use as the parent/donor plants. If it were gn c99 you are after, the new batch shall please us just fine me think. Please no need to camp the bay, no date for this party just yet.

TMB just a tidbit, any c99 seed remake is from original bro. grimm. The only thing that imo is a factor is environment, selection, and quality control. This will determine the shift if any in the line. No matter if it wally, mosca, or joe bloke c99 is always and has to come from original grimm stock. If not from original stock, is not c99.

Is not my place to get involve in topics of selection and environment between breeders over time/generations and naming rights the f'2.3.4 yada yada. hehe. Is not my place to determine when c99 is no longer c99 from it continuation after bro. grimm, only I can live in the present. The here and now. Is all come down to selection, or in the alternate case lack there of.

It's just bunk to me because I have 3 other strains very similar. Also I didn't find it to be as strong as the one pheno I had 4 years go. Most people seem to love the Pineapple C99. It's just not for me. I do hear the Flo and F13 are fire though, so at least you have that going for you.

I have a c99 giant girl that smells nothing like grapefruit or pineapple. It has that fruit punch flavor you mentioned (even in veg, the smell is very strong). I flowered the two other sisters, because they didnt have the sweetness the keeper did. The smoke was great, even though they were improperly cared for. The taste comes through hit after hit, which I really enjoy in good smoke.

I was kind of dissapointed that I didnt find the pineapple pheno, but after reading this I am intrigued i have what I have.

My C99s are from the GN03 collection as well, they were feminised, and I enjoyed them so much that I created feminised beans from them eheh

But ONLY ONCE did I get a non-pineapple pheno ... it was very similar, but the hairs a bit redder (whether it's the "grapefruit" pheno or not I'm not sure but seems likely), and it was as if the "pineapple gene" was completely switched-off ... non-existant. Not even a mild hint of pineapple.

Anyway I'm glad I only got the one - I prefer the pineapple pheno!

how are the gno9 collection so far $150.00 that is steep .i would need som grow reports first. the 03 collection was out of this world as far as smell and taste fast flowering it had it all i still wished i had the one that i did not clone it grew huge buds of f oxtails and cured from pineapple to cat piss it would burn your nose like nothing else .but 2 hits and you are on a ride up in the clouds 4 hr buzz take 2 many and you would spin and puke.

I'm waiting to hear about the GN09, I started another thread about those specifically to see if anyone has grown it yet. I want my funky c99! Pineapple is too generic for me. I'd gladly pay $150 for the chance to get back what I had when I was still a new grower. I just don't have a way to order them.
