Anyone Prefer Really Early Strains?

Hi all :elf:

So I'm cutting sample buds from my pineapple C99 at about 5 weeks to vape, because we've got nothing else to smoke right now, and we're noticing something a bit weird. Both me and the GF prefer the high from the plant when it's at this stage, than when it's fully matured. It's strong, really UP, no paranoia and gave us a warm glowing feeling even the next day. Compare this to the matured c99 smoke which was a lot more paranoid, more confusing and generally less fun.

Am I imagining this? I know the trichs are all clear, the buds haven't formed fully yet, calyxes still swelling, but out of five runs of the same clone this was easily the best sample we've had.

Anyone else out there experience anything similar? When do you think it should be cut to keep this amazing effect?

I have a cherry AK-48 pheno I've been running and I've found that I actually prefer it pulled between 50-60 days. If I let it go for a few more weeks it is smoother but the buzz is so intense that its impossible to get anything done after smoking it.

The only part about pulling so soon that sucks is the yield.

is this a trick question?
earlier the better! Unless it's not potent...as is the case with some of the really early ones. IDK

I mean when you smoke them before they're finished. Not early as in fast finishers. It's potent, but not a fully developed bud.

Yeah, pulling them earlier ensures a lower percentage of CBD's which = nap time.
I don't know about the intesity of the high, but i'm sure it's related to the resin productioon of the flowers near the end of flowering. i must say, when i grow swazi i pull with a about 30-40% trichs amber. i find the high much clearer and less sleep inducing.

Most times I have a REAL hard time getting past the third week in flowering before my
plants look like a beanstalk with just a few leaves lefta and a SMALL cola on top. HA!
I find that I seriously have to have LONG talks with myself about smoking all my future
toking material up...shit I have burned out more hps bulbs from 24/7 continuous
cause I cannot resist that up high from early bud, or early flower, or even leaves if
I am hard up enough.
I feel for ya, cause I do understand m8.

I grew C99 in 2003

and i cut her down half way into flowering due to security issue

I smoked what was left of it and the high was really really PURE

Heck no, I'm sicking tired of plants not properly finished. Mine never seem to finish even with four more weeks (don't ask me why, I dunno). I end up getting tired of waiting or seeing bud rot so I cut them all without amber trichomes and It's a crappy High for me. First of all the high seems always the same, even Indicas look like Sativas. Then it's the wrong kind of stimulation, feels like an overdose of caffeine and gets me all shaky, anxious, in a crappy mood and my self confidence goes down the drain. :/
I would go with a properly finished plant 100% of the time. :)

i still like 5-20% amber but the test buds are always nice!
the high is clear but shorter, yes?
i think amber has something to do with the longevity of the high, among other things...

I have to go with properly finished plants too, especially when you are talking several.I used to pick rather early and felt no real difference on my indica's except a greener taste and less of it.I grew cindy from bros grimm and she would be properly finished at around 50 days. Most indica's wont though,I've found 60 days to be when I'm starting to look at harvest.

Yup - i'd say it's a slightly shorter high, but it also doesn't leave you as burnt out, so you can still do things afterwards. It's also not a bad thing chopping it before the smell really kicks in.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes it early. I'm chopping one of the c99s at about 6.5 weeks and leaving the other to finish properly - then I should have a slight variance in stones.

God i love this C99! Gf wants to get a tattoo in it's honor she's so impressed. :eggnog:

I pulled my outdoor strain 2 weeks early this year, I'm finding the high a bit more dynamic than the later harvested stuff.

I hear you on the paranoid buzz off of well matured C99, I grew some indoors once that made me pause before I opened the jars, heart racing!

C99 is one of my all time faves. Can't wait till I get my Mosca C99 BX1's in the mail! If it's early and potent then it's double the pleasure.

I acidentally broke a limb off my chocolope at 6 weeks... I was AMAZED how good it was...

my mate called me up to say "shit man! my choco got PM at 7 weeks".. I says "chop that sucker down mate, shes good to go"...and she was ;)

edit - I'm still taking mine to 8 - 8.5 weeks tho ;)
