If you think I was talking about seasonal change, then I won't be able to debate you, on grounds of unfair differences in intelligence.

Hey if you want to buy into this scam, by all means, be my guest. By the way... I won the lottery, and I want to give you 10 million EUROS... All you have to do is send me 1800 bucks for the processing fees.....

"It will probably only be bankers and those with extravagant lifestyles who would lose out."

This quote from the article is just wrong - on many levels.
Who decides what is extravagant?
Bankers? Why not celebrities, politicians, livestock farmers, etc. etc.
Problems, be they great or small can't be solved by governing through populism.

You think Al Gore's fat ass is going to stop downing Steaks and Burgers, flying around in his jet, sell any of his homes?

This is all a big swindle, and everybody is eating it right up.

Be great when Cap and Trade passes, and all you illegal indoor growers, ARE SHUT DOWN...

Weed prices... Through the roof.

Shortages... Bet on it.

Me???Non grid tied Solar power on 35 acres in a Med state, in complete compliance.

The only drop in temps I have seen is due to it being winter, global temps have been steadily rising for decades. This has been recorded by scientists all over the world, if you didn't have your head up your ass maybe you'd be able to see what's right in front of you.

gotcha... musta misread that
so what is that, like 40 or 50 gallons a month then,
about 500 gallons of gas a year?
damn...

It's about 28 gallons a month so about 300 gallons a year. Gas here is a little over $3 a gallon. It's a lot of fuel no doubt. I wish more diesel passenger cars were made. I'd get one in a heartbeat. I'm not convinced hybrids are better for the environment when you add in the additional energy cost of manufacturing and the damage done by the nickel mines required to produce the battery packs.

I rode a bike to work 10 miles each way every day for a few years. Felt pretty good about that and I was in incredible shape. Until I was hit by a car anyway.

But with regards to the carbon footprint of indoor growing...

If you use 1000W of lighting, 24 hours a day, for a month (veg) and 1000W 12 hours a day for two months (flower) that's 1440 kilowatt hours. That much power generation requires the release of about 300 kilograms of carbon.

By comparison, on average, every single person on earth is responsible for about 4800 kilograms of carbon release every year.

IEA summary tables for total world energy production and carbon emissions:

http://www.iea.org/co2highlights/CO2highlights.pdf

There was an interesting article in the news about the melting of the polar ice caps. The increased amount of open water results in a larger amount of phytoplankton which acts as a natural carbon sink. So scientists will have to go back and add one more variable to their computer models in order to predict how deep the shit we're in really is.

Global warming is real, and if we don't start giving our governments more money, then we will burn up......
