How do you use your lazer thermometer?

Do you shoot the canopy of the plants or the wall nearest to them?A leaf may read 80 degrees where the wall inches away can read 85F.I've been shooting the canopy but am starting to wonder if ambient temps arent actually surrounding the plants, not leaf temp itself.I've noticed a hydrated plants canopy will be cooler than after it dehydrates awhile also.Maybe the nearest surface temp other than the plant tops is the best gauge.

No hot spots or significant differences between the ambient temps at different locations in my 8 by 8 room.No need to take an average reading. My question is do folks that use a lazer thermometer shoot the canopy or the nearest wall? Its said at 1500PPM co2 that temps of 85 degrees F is optimum,is that ambient temps or canopy temps?Like I said the canopy is always 4-5 degrees cooler than the wall just inches away.I know it's probably not crucial, 1500PPM for 12 hours is going to do its thing at 80 85 or 90F for that matter,I'd just like to know how others are doing it

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but just thought I would see if there was an answer, as this is what I wanted to know!

Thanks!

Naw I'd be moving backwards if I went to flower at 75 degrees,it took all my balls to flower a grow at 85F but when I did the results became obvious. It just didnt feel right flowering at such high temps but believe me if your co2 is on a controller, the higher temps are worth it
