Mexican Bag Seed vs. High End Seeds

I am sitting here smoking on some seeded mexican sativa and realizing that I am fucking HIGH as hell. I hate the smell, taste and seeded bud BUT I have to admit it is pretty potent stuff and the quality of the high is great as well.

What are your thoughts on this? And NO I am not talking about seeded seed bank quality but actual outdoor mexican cartel brickweed type of smoke.

I tossed some pollen from my King Kong (white widow cross) onto these bagseed girls I have (some by the way is showing some purple coloring on the buds) and want to see what I can get from them.

Got some fresh seeded mexican brick seeds that I am going to germ and grow as well. I just love bagseed MINUS dealing with nanners with about 1/2 of them it seems. Most the quality of the seeded girls however are quality especially in yields and finish times.

So,

Do you think Mexican Brick Sativas can and do rival Seed Bank bought seeds?

:yeahthats

very interesting! my thoughts are the mexican growers must have put some effort into selecting a strain to grow since they're growing so fucking much of it. alot of the quality is probably diminished from the sheer volume of plants they deal with

You can find some nice plants to grow in Mexican brick weed. It takes some selection and effort, but if a good high is coming from some crappy looking stuff, grow some out. I've got some brick seed plants and they're frosty as heck right now and they all smell different. There are three of them and the smells range from Juicy Fruit gum to pure skunk aroma. Going to let them go another month and see what happens. They were pollinated with a sativa leaning plant from a Mandala Safari Mix pack. Actually, the whole patch got pollinated by this plant. Gonna get some interesting beans to grow out.

I'm fairly certain the mexican growers didn't select a strain per se, it just evolved as the seasons go. I doubt they do much cloning or selective breeding.

Hey Now,
you never can tell. If it was good smoke when you smoked The seeds might surprise you. We been having an Afghan commercial grade this summer. Not real strong but tasty, fresh stuff. Excellent smoke. When you put together a six pack and get sprouts in all six-two days later. Those Seed are viable. Outdoor you got the weather to consider. Inside you got size /smell issues. I find bag seed very interesting. I always get one that does better than all the rest.
I'd sure love to walk into some shop and try some exotic strain- but you got the same issues. Out of 6/10 seeds you may get a few keepers. Until that day I'll collect seeds.
Really I trade with all my smoking friends for their seed. Most folks just toss them.

I love reading these post /pics. If I learned anything- you just never know. Those wild statements about 'done in 60 days' And they got this plant that looks like it's been growing for six months, thick stalks , huge colas ect. I just don't find that happening too often. I might sprout 12 different bag seeds. I'll end up with a few real nice ones- everytime. Mexican can be thin sativa or fat stinky leaved indica . You just never know.
When you find that ideal mother plant you can, go to the hills Irie!

IMO the only differences that matter are the % of keepers in a good strain compared to brickweed. You will always find something nice, but for that special one it takes a long time.

I have grown out a pure mexican before. Started july 1st, topped it, and still was 16 feet high at harvast!!! Piss poor yeild lots of trim small buds about the size of a grain of rice. finishes in late november/early december. Smoooooooth smoke very tasty kind of like sandalwood or incense. low potency but very high celing very clear high almost feels like your floating. Your really messed up but your somehow able to function normaly, made the work day fly by. the high was a real quality one. an old friend said it reminded him of good pot from mexico in the 70's. It was a joy to smoke and loved it very much. mexico has some great pot.

I truly believe that if you can still locate and isolate a true bred Mexican Landrace in these modern times then it can be better then what most breeders are doing with Indica lines and/or these watered down Sativa hybrids.

My uncle brought back some beans from Mexicali Mexico and they while not being overly Sativa looking did not look to be hybrids of Northern U.S. strains or hybrids of strains from that of Europe.

I am doing many crosses with these beans from Mexicali Mexico. I am also going to "breed it back to itself". While I did do a cross with Skunk #1 and I am also going to do a cross to Deep Chunk, I will not be bastardizing it by crossing it to many other Indicas. I am planning to do crosses to Thin Leaved Sativas that I have within my Vault. I hope that people will help to keep the backcross that I do to itself pure.

And oh yeah I have not gotten 1 hermie plant from any of these beans.

I am breaking down a Mexican bud of some of the Mexican that was grown from the beans brought back from Mexicali and it smells just like Black Pepper. I mean you can sniff the can of Black Pepper in the Cabinet and the bud and they smell exactly the same. When it grows it has the same Black Pepper smell mixed with a tiny bit of a Lemon scent. Buds are a nice dark green color, but not so dark that they almost have almost a brown look to them like a lot of the Mids that are going around Mendocino at this time. Just a nice dark clean green color.

mexican brick weed bag seeds were my first foray into growing and they turned out great. I had a personal stash and it got me and my pals high. The weed was actually quite decent, considering it wasn't all compressed to hell and crumbly. Those seeds turned out better than my first bought seeds, KC Brains' cybercrystal, which was utterly craptacular! Given the right circumstances, Mexican brick weed can produce some primo buds!

I had a lemon smelling pheno from some mexi bagseed back when I was in NOLA that wass THE funk... Nothing wrong with mexi seeds IF the buzz is there...

Every year I grow out some mexican bagseed and every year I will get a few absolutely beautiful females outside. One girl that was 10 foot tall this last season.

When I was in Mexico earlier this year [Feb] me and my girlfriend bought a bag of pot from a guy on the beach....
$50US for about I'd say a good Quarter OZ...
Now, it LOOKED like shit, it SMELLED like shit and it TASTED like shit.... BUT... one HUGE but...

IT WAS INCREDIBLE... It got you high as hell for HOURS... it was potent and lasted...
the bag lasted the whole vacation.... $50 was cheap to get ripped in Mexico on the beach for the duration of the vacation....

Growing bagseed from schwag can be really hit and miss... but everry now and then you get really lucky. i did my first grow last year and my first three plants were from Mexican bagseed. One came out looking like a pure Oaxaca gold, the next definitely had some Thai going for it, and the last had a slight Afghani influence. The Oaxaca was clear and euphoric and gently psychedelic with an amazing spiritual focus, the Thai was trippy as fuck, colors blurred and intensified, music had texture... The afghani was my least favorite but it was still better than 95% of anything i've spent money on. It had a really potent head high wrapped up in a bodyish stone. i went all organic and they spent the last four weeks of flower outside in the Sun. They were fantastic.
Point being, yes, you can luck out and find some real winners in bagseed, especially if it came out of a mexican with a high you love. Just keep in mind that the plants you grow from the seeds won't necessarily be the same as the plants you smoked initially. Good luck.
