The creep of winter

I

The feeling seems to roll me like a dark cloud. I hate this time of year, all the way from early spring thru fall I love being outside doing stuff, makes me so happy. Then winter comes and makes me not want to leave my house and leaves me feeling all lazy and shit.

I try to get under my metal halide for about 30-60 mins a day, doesnt seem to do much tho.

Oh I totally feel ya on this one... I'm the same way...
Call it Seasonal Affectation Disorder or whatever, it blows big time...
I've got my blinds open, sitting in the sunlight right now soaking it up, 'cause I know it'll be gone in 10 minutes...

Here's something that usually works for me when I get like that...
Get on the floor and bang out a few sets of pushups until you can't even do 2 more (and do em slowly and controlled).
Split those up with situps, also controlled.
About 5 or 10 minutes after you're feeling flushed, warm or slightly sore you should start to notice a lift in your mood.
There's a science behind it, but I don't remember the details.

Don't let it get to ya, bro.

Yeah weekdays suck extra hard, I wake up for 5 and get home at 4ish, get about 30 mins of daylight before dark. Usually just enough time to clean up the dog shit.

I'm a body builder and usually kick up the training intensity in the winter, even that doesn't help much. I just miss climbing mountains, usually hike one or 2 days a week in the summer time, I just love smoking in the sunshine.

i do feel your pain, literally, i've used a few of the tricks mentioned here, help a bit
i'm really wanting to put up a 'green room' addition to my house, bright sun, warm temps, and green plants - i think that would be a great mood enhancer

Sorry, man... I can still relate, though.
A buddy of mine just moved to Santa Barbara for the climate. He's an avid hiker and outdoorsman and he loves it.
I'm considering doing the same thing in a couple years if the winter funk keeps messing with my sanity...

I fuckin love winter. I chase winter around the world. Snow sports are the best, get into that shit. Skiings the best... if you have no mountains get a snowmobile or something. Go play in the snow!

In my area, the leaves seem to fall off the trees in one day

Very annoying, looks great with the colors, go to work, come home, and just have sticks there

We do not get winter anymore here, we get sporadic dumpings of snow and rain

It sounds like a lack of serotonin. You need more sunlight.

The creep of winter

I thought u were talking about Santa Claus for a minute...as if he's some sort of perv who creeps round kids bedrooms at night emptying his sack or something!!??!! :xmasnut:

...on a serious note sounds like seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

Im not a huge advocate of tanning cause of cancer and the like, but if you spend a good 10 min every couple of weeks in a tanning bed you will feel quite a bit better, its how i cured my winter depression.

For me its not so much the cold, dark weather, its the short days that get me Nov-Feb. Seems like alot of my life in winter is spent in front of a TV or Computer, unless I'm lucky enough to have a good book handy.

As March wears on the day length will get better, and my optimism for life starts to multiply. Its important that I have a good bud supply for the winter months!

I've heard regular flourescent lights are good for seasonal anxiety disorder. You could be setting yourself up to a degree knowing you will become depressed during those months. The mind is a funky thing

i have to say this doesnt bother me till later in the year... after i've shoveld a few feet of snow. For the most part I love the change in seasons... i mean i dislike the yard work and such, but whatever, its a part of life. I am sure mid March I will be a much different tune.

Nothing.... i mean nothing beats smoking a fat bowl on a saturday morning to fresh snow, making a nice hearty homemade breakfast and relaxing or going snowboarding/sleeding/etc

This year i thinka ima' try tubbing. Hopefully i don't break my back.

That is why I hate where I live. 6 months out of the year, it is fcking cold. I was depressed for the past two winters...never was like that when I was in California. Can't wait to go back.
