Any tech guys here...? i use kaspersky internet security pc tools spyware doctor and spybot search and destroy...

kaspersky found a worm in firefox.exe which is my browser but didnt remove it? kaspersky is trusted so maybe thats why..? just had it try and download some shit but kaspersky denied it... how to remove the worm?....


the name of the worm is generic.p2p or some shit im looking for the exact name now....

if you know how to torrent you can get it easy
ive never liked kaspersky personaly

tried both of those things... nothing.... think i just fixed it... it finally let me upgrade the version of firefox... every time before said my computer didnt meet recommendations.... but my computer is a gaming computer lol....

Use HiJack this. It is a virus removal tool. You can google it. It is from Trend Micro
and is a VERY useful utility for when you catch some shit and NOTHING else works.

The program (HiJack This) when run, will do a system scan and a complete listing of
ALL of the proggies used by your computer system so be VERY careful what you edit.
The program also has a config/misc section that allows you to delete on reboot any
file that is undeletable.

First, kaspersky sucks last time i used it. The majority of main-stream AV's suck way too much memory, not to mention don't pickup virus-themed malware infections..

My lineup of programs which destroys 99% of any infections (sometimes it alters the OS, and i may have to do a format, but my things are backed up for that reason)

- CCleaner (to clean temp files, sys temp files, reg errors, etc.)
- Eset NOD32 v4
- Malwarebytes
- AdAware
- Spybot
- HiJackThis
- ComboFix

ONLY USE COMBO FIX FOR MAJOR MALWARE/SPYWARE INFECTIONS, NOT VIRUSES. IT'S A SERIOUS PROGRAM AND CAN FUCK YOUR SHIT IF YOU'RE NOT INFECTED!

Viruses are rare. Are you sure you have a virus?

You're XML file was probably overwrote with the malware/spyware infection. Same thing happened to me - removed the infection, but every link i clicked on took me to the virus's page - only in firefox.

PS; don't use hijack this unless you know what you are doing. you can remove BHO files which can ruin your system. best leave that to the pro's and let automated programs handle your shit. i suggest running malwarebytes and combofix last, should fix it.

Might just be some nasty shit from p2p. Don't use p2p programs or public torrent sites.

When I clean up peoples computers I like going into safe mode with malwarebyes - takes care of it 90% of the time, the other 10% are really, really clever things that are good a hiding

thanks guy what it was is firefox version had a vulnerbility that needed to upgrade and i was infected with a worm that wouldnt let it upgrade... then i got spyware doctor to find two trojans that removed them and the worm alloed me to upgrade and now im good...
