If your state goes medical, how do you..

PA is (hopefully) in the process of getting medical allowed here.

My question.

I not only use marijuana medically (nausea, stomach problems, backaches, etc.) but also recreationally. I would love to end my deadend job and be a part of the medical movement....i hear how out in the west there are dispensaries/collectives/compassion centers/pot clubs...

A.) What, if any, is the difference between the dispensaries/collectives/compassion centers/pot clubs?

B.) What options would i have in starting one of the above (dispensary, etc.) as a personal business?

C.) I hear people can be just like "caregivers" to a said number of patients. is this true, and what are the normal procedures?

I know the law they pass (IF they do) can vary dramatically, but i'm in a dead end job and would love to be able to jump ship, maybe get a business loan and start one - being one of the first true medical cannabis centers in my state, ever. Is this possible given the right planning?

You think a bank is going to loan you money (in this economy to boot) to start an enterprise that is against federal law?

good luck with that one.

I figured under state law...

You could have been more constructive with your response...

Banks don't operate under state law, they operate under federal law.

My point was that it seems like so many people get all excited about state MMJ laws and completely forget it's still illegal underal fed law.

Obama's directive doesn't have any effect on banks or any other businesses. The memo was sent to the DEA (and fed prosecuters) ONLY.

Understandably so! Everyone should be excited when medical is passed in a state.

Maybe i need to be more clear.

Both CA and CO have dispensaries/compassion centers, etc. Who runs these? How are they started? What's required normally?

That's what I'm asking, not whether or not it's legal or illegal. If the dispensaries were 100% illegal, they'd not even be granted a permit to be a business let alone run for years..

You mean just like in San Diego?

You seem to think that just because you read about what's going on in places like LA means it's going on in the rest of cali.

Far from it.

The legality of dispensaries in cali has never been decided and is still in a state of flux.

I borrowed the money to start my show from BofA and Citibank, among others. The key is to learn the definition of the word 'fungible', and to understand that money is fungible.

OP, your questions will be answered by the PA legislature. The laws and other people's experiences in other states are irrelevant to you. For instance MN was trying to make people with cannabis recs give up their driver's licenses as part of the law, which doesn't show up anywhere else to date.

in CO you start a disp. just like any other biz. license, tax id, lawyer, llc, find a secure spot......they are ran by people just like me and you.....but mostly 40 and under males, that look like your smoking buddy, or go to guy.

but you do have to remember your door can be kicked in at any moment by thieves or leo...risky business

I personally would never borrow money for such a risky investment.....if your not financially able maybe a partnership would work better

Well, as of now the Bill they have up has no mention of dispensaries or collectives at all. The only thing they mention are caregivers so there's really no way you could legally start a dispensary, even under state law.
