What size pot do you use?

I've seen so much variation on what size pots people use for autoflowering plants, from less than 5 liters to 11 liters. I have a cabinet about 3 feet wide and a foot and a half deep with a 150 watt HPS. I recently recieved my order of 5 easy riders (lr#2 x auto AK) and 5 automatic white Moscow, all fem. I was hoping for somewhere around a 4 oz harvest so I was thinking I'd plant half of the seeds so I could repeat the grow aftewards. I'm just trying to figure out what size pots to stick in there. Any help is great.

7gl pots for me. I would rather give them a little extra room to grow into. They seem to be a good size although a 5g might work too

3 position germination tray with lid for germination
6 oz. cup with ffof for veg till 5 tier of leaves
1 1/2 gallon plastic can with bottom holes till 18 to 24 inch in veg
3 gallon till 4th week of veg
5 gallon plastic can with bottom holes for 1 additional week then 12/12

I could be wrong here, but I think these guys are talking full size plants, not autoflowers in a cabinet.

I haven't ran any autos myself but I would think for the plant size 3 or 4l would be right. Especially if you use coco, that should give you enough space for 5 plants

Squince, I'm glad to see a thread with this question, I'm in the planning stage so I need this info too. I've only got 24" of height to work with so I'm kinda restricted.

I just had a friend pull an oz off a Diesel Ryder In a 2 US GAL pot. His grow area was 4Wx2Dx4H with 10" of room for light and 8" for the pot leaving 30" for the plant. I think it grew to 2 feet so with 10" of light to plant clearance he did fine. He said he's going to do 1 GAL pots next time to fit more in the cab and see how much it affects the yield.

I forgot to mention it but he's running a 400w HID.

Anyway do your homework and lots of luck to you man!

Bit late to chime in but heres my 2 cents:

I grew 8 Diesel Ryders SOG style in a minifridge with a 150w HPS. I pulled at best around 22g and my lowest was 12.5. That's dry weight of course.

I used 2L soda bottles cut just above the label, so more like 1.5L. My plants ranged from 8 to 13 inches tall. One wild gal required some serious LST or she would have been 20" plus.

I have a friend that grew some LR2 and some DR in 3 gallon pots under a 400w HPS. Both of his plants got over 3ft tall, and the DR yielded over 3oz dry!!

So honestly, you could use any size pot you can find, but obviously the bigger the better. Strain type, grow style, grow space, etc. will change a few variables. But what I was always told is to always use pots that are taller than they are wide, and go as big as your space and/or amount of plants will allow.

Peace
