Newbie dwc questions

First off, I have done some searching, and got some results, but....
OK, I have a question about this hydro dwc. I need to raise my ppm count in my res, it is at almost 700. I need to be around 1K, do I just add to my res, or premix what I need? also, how do I bring it up the required amount? Like from say 700 up to 1000-1200?

Ok, first off what kind of DWC system are you running? Several buckets with a controller, recirculating, a tub with several plant in it or buckets by themselves?
If it is recirculating you can just add nutrients and water to attain the proper ppm. With the use of a controller bucket (non-recirculating) it is best to add nutrients premixed to the proper ppm. The same goes for individual buckets or large tub with several plants.

Happy Growing.

Ahh yes sorry I have a single res dwc 15 gallon. And I am growing, from what I've been told, Shoreline.
And how do I measure to make up the diff in my ppm. Meaning how do I raise it the amount I need to?

An EC of 1.4 sounds pretty hot. An EC of 2.4 sounds deadly. How fast does EC rise in your res?

Never add nutes straight to the res, mix with water in separate container and add that to the res. Things happen fast in a DWC and dumping full strength nutes directly into the roots can burn the plant. Fortunately, recovery is almost as fast but, why freak it out to begin with?

By now you should have a journal that records the EC of your water and the EC achieved by adding nutes at given rates such as 1/4 and 1/2 tsp per gal. This should allow you to achieve a desired EC in the add back. An easy example: you want to raise tank EC from 0.8 to 1.2 and you're adding back half the volume of your res. To raise tank EC by 0.4, mix add back EC to 1.6 (desired EC + 0.4)

Say your nutes bring the ppm to 500 at the rate of 1 tsp per gal then if you need to add 250 ppm to say 8 gals you would need 4 tsps. Find what 1 tsp per gal brings your ppm to and then go from there. I agree with Freezerboy 1k ppm sounds hot as hell unless your in full bloom. Dwc doesnt need as high of ppms I never exceed 900 ppm at .5 conversion. Hope this helps.
