Anyone using a green light to enter their garden at night

I am looking for a green light so I can enter my garden at night. I have a green cfl party bulb from walmart but I am afraid to use it. I am going to test it out on just a few of my uglier females in separate room so as to not hermie my whole garden.

I am wondering if anyone is currently using a green light. Have you had any problems with using them and if you could give a description, picture, or link for the bulb I would appreciate it?

I believe the science in that a green light should not affect photoperiod but I am a skeptic I guess on any green light being good enough. I know this question has been asked many times but I have yet to seen someone with a grow thread showing one in the garden. Sure people say they do it but half of these folks probably don't even grow weed.

Also I need to be able to get in my room so please don't post saying how you wouldn't enter the room at night. My dehumidifier just shut down cause its full and I am 2 hours away from lights on. Just little things like that would make it nice to be able to pop in.

I asked this question earlier and was responded to by a member that said that they use that same bulb with no adverse effects. The only other bulb that I have come across is a t5 that is green and marketed specifically for this reason. I asked at my local hydro shop and she said that she has red?!? ones for that reason. I didn't buy one.....

Good luck finding out more, and let me know how it turns out if you do use one!

I used to have on before at a house where I had 2 rooms going. The rooms would be 12/12 schedules opposing one another and I could only get out to that house 2-3 times a week. When I would go out there one of the rooms would always be at lights out so I would just flip on the green light and do my thing. It never affected anything. Matter of fact more than once I forgot to turn off the green light before I left the house only to come back to it still on 3 days later. Never once had a problem.

I say use it if you have to. Matter of fact I need to get myself a few green bulbs.

I am going to put 3 girls in my closet and leave the green light on 24/7 during flower. If nothing happens then I think I will put a few in my room and maybe one in the garage so that I can enter the room and never have them under regular light.

I also run vertical and am blinded by the lights when I am working in there. On top of that I have already got two minor burns (arm and ass) from getting to close while watering. It has become a chore and making me dislike vertical so I want to give them a shot.

Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming folks.

Green 13 w cfl

The big orange national chain hardware store carries a standard 13w cfl in green it.s like $ 5.oo us , screws into a standard socket and carries no worries

Well I've got burned on the arm too when I did vertical. Had a burn on my right arm that looked like a got attacked by Luke Skywalker but damn this dude got whacked in the arm and ASS with Luke's lifesaver!!!!!

Glad you guys enjoyed that. I was watering half blind and sometimes I use my arm to shield my eyes from the light. Stupid me walked straight into the bulb which was blocked by my arm. Burned like hell but I stuck my arm in my watering drum.

Then ten minutes later I am stretching to take a plant from an 8 foot shelf :wallbash:and my ass and lower back get hit by the same ballast. Melted the air paints to my boxers. I love vertical but my design skills were definately lacking.

Being able to work on my garden at lights off would be so much better. Some people would say why risk it but when your :moon:looks like this do I really need to answer?

On the serious side thanks for everyones input.

i use that lil green flash light ear peice thing..no issue

I like the idea of those or the hat clip on but my room is like a jungle. It is ridiculous really. I think I need a bigger light. I have to climb over under shit to be able to get to the girls. I think with a small light like that I am going to snapping limbs, stepping on pots, spilling water everywhere. I am not a klutz but my setup makes it really tight.

Walmart here carries a $10 Energizer clip-on (for hat visors) GREEN LED light that works great for using to check your plants during lights off.

I've used green bulbs for years, plants can't absorb green light so it doesn't induce a photosynthetic response.

I use a green multi LED headband, works great.
