i would like to know if it is possible to make a 4 foot by 4 foot by 16 inch(high) hempy tub with a res that fills it to the holes once a day like a flood and drain system, then i could just change the rez solution once a week.I have been thinking of this for a while.does anyone think this would work?

cb,
There seems to be a rash of hybrid systems. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you want to do.

Essentially you want to use a flood and drain table as an auto-fill for hempy buckets? Of course...yes it would work? But that's really overkill. Hempys are easy to maintain. Just hand water them daily.

But your idea would also solve the drain overflow.

Seriously though...if you want an honest opinion. You'd be going to a humugous amount of extra work to save very little. Adding a res to a few Hempys just doesn't make sense. Just do an Ebb and Flow which is an easy system.
Or just do the Hempys which are super sinple.
IMHO...

thats actually why i want to do this, because of the runoff,i could just put screens at the holes to prevent blockage. Also,it would save me feeding every 2 or 3 days.i could just change the rez once a week.I want to do SOG and thats another reason.its more of a money thing,as well as turn around,i could build say 4- 4 by 4 hempy tables,2 for veg and 4 for flower(my flower romm is 4 by 8 feet)and the day i harvest i could move the vegged plants from the veg room right into the flower room without losing any veg time.thats another reason for this idea.that way the day i harvest is the same day i start a new flower cycle.or i could really use rubbermaid tubs, but the run off and feeding would take a whole lot of time and mess.

cb,
I've messed around with Hempys. Last winter I had 5 running. What I did was to use a standard 1/2" grommet inserted into the drain hole...a 1/2" barbed fitting into that...attach 1/2" vinyl tubing and into a bucket. Raise the Hempys a bit and then after watering...you just empty the bucket (using a pump or do it manually). It worked pretty good.
