Bud Inspection?

Would a 15x jewelers loupe work for inspecting the trichomes on buds for harvest? I know most magnifing glasses are about 4x. And some people here use 30x-60x. So....?

Really? Interesting. The smallest I can go is 60 and I always felt the field was too small and that the 30's larger field would be perfect. Guess I'll stick with what I got.

if you own a digi cam that has macro

Take a few macros, and zoom them in on your pc

I do not bother with the micro scopes and magnifying glasses anymore.

they also have macro usb devices now as well

You may want to consider an Eyeclops Bionicam. It's a cheap assed piece of crap I despise every minute I use it. Then I plug it into the computer and share pics with IC and I LOVE it!

I don't recommend it at MSRP of $80 but, it's price bounces up and down. I got mine for $27. One plus is, I can take shots live from the garden without cutting anything off. Shots 1-3 are live while 4 is post mortem.

theres always the old backwards binoculars trick/

Hahaha, never thought of that one. . . I took 2 magnifying glass' and moved them together and apart looking through them both to have a makeshift microscope I suppose is what it was but I could see my trichomes if they were amber or milky. I think It was a 10x and a 6x. . .

The cheaper loupes usually have plastic lenses and are blurred apart from the centre of image , best ones are triplex ,three glass lenses bonded together , and give a flatter field of view at a higher price.

See no need to go beyond 10x myself , can just pick out colour of individual trichs but easier to judge a percentage amber at this magnification than higher.

The inexpensive USB microscopes off fleabay do not live up to expectations and are soon discarded , the Bionicam however is exceptionally good for the money and local schools are useing them.

good drown

dont get any magnifying glasses on ebay, they are not the magnification they claim. radio shack has a nice 10-30x model. it has 3 lenses, use all 3 for 30x. they also have a 60-100x scope, its to hard to use unless you cut a bud, because its so close and you can't keep it completely still
