Wild cannabis/Ruderalis in Germany?

A

Hi there my German cannafriends

If my presumptions are correct there should be some locations with wild cannabis and ruderalis in Germany?

I would love to see some pictures and descriptions of wild cannabis in Germany if you have any. I am especially interested in info on any fully autoflowering wild weed if you have.

Thanks guys. Stay green and safe :joint:

I think i once read on the german forum hanfburg from somebody who had found wild hemp in his surroundings, which he stated was actually psychoactive - what would make it an really old line, but he never showed pictures if i remember correctly, it's a story maybe true or not...

sure is, that wild hemp is very rare in germany in most parts... in the eastern part (former DDR) there are said to exist some wild populations derived from hemp that the soviets planted there after wwII, but these were strains for fiber production - so they produce in no way smokable product...

as i grew up in the countryside, since i was small i was strifing through the forrests and fields, and i still enjoy taking a walk through nature as often as possible, and as i'm also doing outdoor guerilla grows i'm always in search of the best hidden spots ;) and i never once in my life came across a hemp plant growing wild...

You have to keep in mind that germany has a high density of population so a lot of areas are surely free of wild hemp, but i really hope that somewhere in the lesser populated areas there still might exist some old genetics - hemp has been cultivated in germany for centuries - and not only for rope-production but also for smoking and using it in "magic-brews" in the middleage...(edit: not only that it also was a common ingredient in beer before the "bayrisches reinheitsgebot")

especially in the south in the alps there is a tradition of smoking cannabis that goes back a long time, and it is a little populated area - so there really might be some family growing plants that were passed on from generation to generation back in some hidden valley in the Schwarzwald etc or some small population that has survived on its own... it's possible :D

anyhow there is hemp that is grown legally by the farmers, but this all are seeds that won't produce more than 0,3% thc, so you can see large fields of hemp - but mostly the plants don't look to good because they are planted too close (for our sense, for fiber-production this is important) and the farmers don't care much about feeding them properly...

here is a nicer one:

but there always are some folks who take care about keeping germany green :D in the search of this one above i came across another thread i haven't been reading in ages, very nice outdoor grow in germany:

http://forum.hanfburg.de/fhb/showthread.php?t=187497&highlight=i-hanf

hehe and while typing this one came to my mind also... really great outdoor grow as well:

but if you think about finding german autoflowering genetics for breeding drug-cannabis, then i'd say you're better of with lowryder (and i would never recommend to anybody growing lowryder, let alone use it for seed production) ;)

great info, thanks for the links

You caught me i am looking for breeding material. But i am also very interested in phenovariatons of the ruderalis. Germany seemed to me as one of the northernmost places an old population of wild autoflowers would grow.

Ive found videos from Austria with wild weed, it seemed to me likely to exist somewhere maybe close to the southern and eastern borders in Germany aswell.

Im up here in Norway you see, we've got great climate for growing, but the light regime prevents anything but true autos at my latitude. Around Oslo and in the far south of the country the Danish strains will finish just fine, but im quite far north of Trondheim which makes autos the only alternative. There are otherwise great forested and mountainous areas perfectly suited for guerilla projects.

Lowryders thrives here, here is a grow with Lowryder, Dieselryder and Guerilla Gold north of the 66 parallel in Norway. From norwegian cannabisforums.

& here is a grow with AK47 outdoor at latitude 60 north in Norway. It has hardly started flowering by mid october.

Historical hemp production has occured also in Norway in past times, pollen samples from the Oslo fjord indicate hemp production in the area in the viking era.

In modern times i have heard of a guerilla plot with lowryders or autos which upon the following years of cultivation, the population had reappeared and also spread over the years. This was north of the arctic circle at 66 north according to my source.

Im working currently with pehkuruders which is a line from Finland, it contains some lowryder in the later generations, but also siberian rudealis. There are a bunch of info on the pehkuruder in my grow and show, in the signature. And also in "The Northern Connection" social group... also in the sig, we have plenty of room for more German people btw :friends:

Ruddies seem to exist from China to America, yet little info is out on variation of phenotypes. Also as far as i can understand there seems to be quite a difference between automatic ruderalis and industrial fiber hemp or sativas. The sativas are cultivated for their tremendous height which gives loads of fiber whereas the ruddies are mere dwarfs in comparison.

When looking at sativas in central asia they do not seem to revert to ruderalis appearance in the wild, it appears to me as 2 distinctly different phenotypes. Both being non potent. Im trying to find valid information on this subject but its hard much because of the east/west culture and language barrier.

As a northern lat grower im more then avg interested in the autos because with our climate up here we have a good chance to grow, but only autos. :D So i thank you for any info its priceless considering future possibilities in the warming world we are facing.

Thanks again guys.. peace -AS

Hallo!

I never saw wild cannabis in Germany, but it can be found a bit further south in Austria. I was surprised to see that it grew next to fields and no one seemed to care :D

These were from 30cm to a 1.2 meters tall. Some looked like baseball bats and some had significant branching. Narrow leaves, dense buds full of tiny seeds. Will take some time to domesticate as they have a very deep dormance.
