40x40x120 Tent, ventilation question

Thinking about trying a grow in a very small tent, the Jardin Dark Room 40x40x120 cm. Now im looking for a fan that's really really quiet, I saw MrMicro suggest an S & P TD160 with fan controller for this kind of tent. Im going to do this hydro with one 125W (veg) & 300W (bloom) CLF.

Now to the question: Do I really need this much power for a 40x40x120 setup and is there a quieter fan out there?

klys id like to know the answer to this as well, as my plants are like yours except ill be growing in a wide but short cab so i can hand the cfl without a reflector vertically and grow around it to maximize efficiancy, im curious just how warm a true 150-200 clf will make one of theese smaller tents or boxes, does one need more then a few (2-4) pc fans to move the air out ?

Dude...great queston as ventilation is the most difficult aspect I found in setting up any kind of indoor growing environment. I went and bought the big grainger squirrel cage fan (actually small, but 140CFM) and it was a bit noisey...so I went down to HD, and got the expensive 90 dollar 90cfm...QUIET bathroom fan...2.0 sones or something like that...it's nice and quiet inside my cabinet...which is 2x3.5x6 feet...and it keeps the room around 80 with 350 watts of CFL in there...I have a very short exhaust to the outdoors....in the winter, I'll have to go home made carbon scrubber....so I would get one of those fans...but it's NOT INLINE>..i mounted with only 2 screws and used a faucet rubber gasket (the kind you get a bunch in a little box at HD) and it doesn't vibrate at all, not sure if this fan would work as I screwed it into my wood cabinet. HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL.

I'm no expert, but if you have that sort of setup with the fan control you would be pretty set, if you are also interested in really quiet fans, the Panasonic Whisper lines are known to be extremely quiet (the lower CFM models moreso). You might need a fan that pulls a couple more amps than the 80 CFM model if you are putting it in a closet or somewhere where you have to reroute the air, but yet again, I'm just another dude, wait for some big boys of ventilation to chime in'

Additionally, make sure you pull through the scrubber and all that jazz to make it overall easier on your fan, I think your lighting might be really cool(not literally, hah!), but I also think it might be a bit overkill, I've generally seen about 50-125ish watts per square foot in successful micro grows.

Thanks for the input, I found out a local dealer who had the S&P TD-160/100 N SILENT fan.

Here are the specs from the dealer:

I think I can live with 24 dB in my closet, if that's right it's really really quiet!

Regarding the lights it's overkill I know, though I allready have the 300W CLF blooming 2xEasy Ryders in my PC chassi, and it's like 1/10'th the size

Think this setup will be sweet, going to do some horizontal/vertical scrog in it with 2 strains. Just waiting for payday so I can go ahead and order all this stuff.

I´m in the planning stages of my first try at growing and I´m considering more or less the same setup as the one your using so I´m naturally curious.

hello ! i am also thinking for a similar setup, with 40x40x120 size secret jardin grow tent. i have a hard time finding a reflector which will fit to 40 x 40 grow space. where did you find one ? do you know any online grow-shop in europe which will ship to all europe ? if you know can you share it ? thanks, hoknuf.

i dont know where you live, but you prolly dont need any out vents with that little light. keep temps at 85 and add co2. if you bumped up to a 400w get a 4inch, 600w 6inch,
