Hi folks, I want to lift my 3 gallon pots 2-4 inches off the nft trays that they sit on so I can fit wicks to the bottoms of the pots to assist drainage. I`ve got 15 to raise and wondering what I can use that will be a consistent hieght and easy to use.

What have you used in the past or use now?

I`m looking for a good cheap safe way of raising my pots off of the drain tray, any helpful suggestions would be handy.

Thanks, Toke:joint:

I buy irrigation pipe at hemp depot. I beleive its 4" diamater, and the stuff I have it white on the outside. 6 bucs for 9 feet or such. Then take a hacksaw and cut to the lenth you need. I run 1.5G pots and sit on top of 6" tall lengths w/no issue, but have to watch for tipping. Use one on each corner of a large pot.

No rot, no worries, and cheap.

Best idea! You can screw them into a triangle that way it will be stable.

Try to find the trays that bakeries use for delivery to stores. The most common size is 3' x 3' but I've also seen 2' x 2', 2' x 3' etc. They are 3"-4" high and very strong plastic. They look similar to a milk or egg crate (diamond-mesh pattern).

I've got 9 x 3 gallon smart pots sitting on a 3' x 3' tray right now--keeps the pot bottoms off the floor and the runoff drains right thru into flat trays...

start getting creative man,

I've used: books, duct tape, temp gauges, dvd cases, wood blocks, other pots flipped, picture frames, cups, wire spool, shoe boxes, socks once, bottle tops, cd cases, small carboard boxes..... ........

have fun

i really really like this one too

That is good, if you can find them cheap. Ive used large plastic totes that you can find most place cheap. Just cut the bottoms off, flip them upside-down and you have nice waterproof platforms.
