HTGSUPPLY VIRUS!!

Not sure whats going on here but i just tried going to the site and my norton antivirus kept blocking a high risk worm from the site. Just a warning to all who shop their online website. mayb someone that knows more about it will notice it and get the word out.

stay safe!

their products are cheap IMO..
i guess they do the trick but if you can help it at least dont buy their bulbs :2cents:

i was at the site trying to help someone on icmag find a cheap t5 unit. when i went to the site i kept seeing a norton window pop-up in the bottom right of my screeen saying "bloodhound." blocked. and then when i checked it out thru norton it said it was a heuristic virus that sends information to a 3rd host. also said it was a high risk virus

chances are you probably already have well over 10 worms on your computer sending information to 3rd parties... norton is stupid

could it just be added do to marijuana reasons? not sure if norton adds marijuana related sites or not as questionable or not. I don't care for anti virus shit because I feel they are the ones giving my computer problems.

that is a 400 too....the cheapo one they got for about 140 shipped. its good, however the factory bulb blows!....i upgraded to this one a 55000 lumenr. i sold that light off though.

been awhile since I used HTG but as I recall the guy Tony that
owns it was a rather righteous individual as he cut me a deep
discount on already great priced goods in some tougher times.

Confirming Tony and the folks at HTG rock :headbange

One time I ordered a bulb from them, and that particular model was out of stock. Instead of putting me on a back order or something like any other place I can think of would have done, he upgraded me to the more expensive light for free. Didn't even call or anything, just my package came with a nice letter explaining why I got a $100 bulb instead of the $50 one I ordered.

But yeah, the 'base' bulbs suck, their just standard HIDs like in parking lots. Their Horti bulbs though I've had absolutely no issue with at all.

I have had 0 problems with them or any of their products. The ballast kit I got from there has lasted over two years now without the slightest issue, where as I went through 2 ballasts in under a year with a different vendor.

Did a bit of poking around, and it does seem it could be legit. I sniffed around the pages that it was trying to load from, and it appears that the message is coming from some embedded JS trying to load 'news'.

So, it very well could be a false positive, as things like 3rd site JS counters and such have been known to cause this response. BUT, it can also be a very dangerous loophole that is not a false positive at all.

Time to drop HTG a little note to tell them to fix their website. If it's legit code, then it needs to be cleaned up, and if it's not legit, they need to get someone on it ASAP.

H, ya know I love ya man, but come one bro, you know better than this.

Claiming Ubuntu is safer from hackers is like saying Fort Knox is safe from robberies just because nobody breaks in.

The reason Ubuntu is so safe is that it is a slim fraction of PC users. No one takes the time out of their schedules to meet with the shoe shine boy. No matter how well Ubuntu runs (and I'm with you on this one, Ubuntu rox :D), the primary safeguard, imho, is its lack of widespread popular expansion.
