I have sexed most all of the Grapefruit Jam... 3 males, 1 female and an unconfirmed. I should know about that one by the end of the weekend... hopefully a lady as well.

Here's the males:

And here's the female:

Of the males, #1 and #3 are the two most vigorous and most stinky. #1 is tallest, but #3 has a much wider canopy, larger leaves, more branching and tighter nodes. It's also got the hairiest stem, is the smelliest and is the most colorful.

I've culled #5 for being smallest and generally inferior - it was the only one to burn with my mild veg nutes, too. (As you can see the rest are either happy or still a little hungry.)

Once I've taken stock of #4's gender, I'll get the girl(s) moved into their 1-gallon homes and start building towards the flip. Gotta get that Mirre outta here... can't wait for that!

I also cut up some black plastic tonight and made bellows for the closet doors... this ought to take care of my light leaks; I suppose we'll find out. Sure can't hurt. :smoke:

Hehe the fun's been going on since I moistened my first peat puck. =)

Without being insecurely-specific at all, I'm one of three growers in our little circle. We've got our roles in the 'team' although we all run our grows independently. I've taken the role of 'genetics-finder.' This was a natural fit, given that I am still hunting for a specific medical strain. Now I'm the official 'seed guy.'

So not only do I have a nice collection of genetics in seed form thanks to Gypsy and the members of this site... but I have a mandate to pop whatever I have every 4-6 weeks until it's gone, looking for keepers and an occasional male for my own ends. :smoke:

So expect this to be a pretty common cycle... and 12 months from now I hope to have quite the honed momma-room! In no particular order, here's a tentative list of the genetics I'll be sorting through in the next few months (it's hardly my whole seed jar, but it's what I'm excited about most):

1) Sour Lifesaver
2) SSSDH (ojd)
3) Happy Brother BX1
4) F-13
5) Mosca Negra Williams Wonder x C99

And who knows what else will make its way here... I don't have any Diesel genetics in the stable at all (waiting for Rez's SD drop, will cure that) and I've got a space in the rotation saved for Head's drop this spring as well.

So stay tuned! And thanks to everyone who's made their way in so far. It's no fun playing to an empty house, so you're what really makes this thread go. Hopefully, we're just getting revved up here. :)

We'll get 'em together with my half a pack of Mirre males, with a little luck we can field a whole baseball team.

Funny thing happened when I took my loupe to the Mirre today. The two tall phenos - which I'd expected to be the slightly-longer flowering ones - have a few amber trichs on both leaf and calyx. The two beefier and shorter ones are 98% cloudy, but I didn't see any amber at all.

Since I now have 11 plants crammed into the tent I think I'm going to take the two tall ones down on Thursday. That's 65 days even, and I will need space desperately by then as some of the newer girls are really starting to stretch into healthy bushes. This is how I like my trichs anyway - about 5/90/5 - so it's a nice piece of news. I'll let the other two go to 75 or so.

In order:

And here's that Grape Skunk bush... she's gonna be over a Z but I dunno by how much.

Thanks, JH. It's not like I don't enjoy every minute of it... I don't sell so weight is irrelevant, and the hunt is where the fun is anyway. :smoke:

Speaking of hunting... the 5th Grapefruit Jam has declared himself. It's a boy! He's nowhere near the plant in any way that #3 is, so he's been culled.

That makes 4 males, one female. #3 is a clear standout from the pool of guys. Let's hope he's as good a father as he is a plant. I'll make some nice photos of him tonight, he's a little wilty right now. (He's drinking nearly twice as much as his siblings, another plus.)

The female looks great. She's up to 8 evenly-spaced ~2cm nodes with some branching starting to develop now. Since I only have one girl to flower, I'll be able to use one of the 2g Smartpots, veg her another 3-5 weeks, and make an event outta her. I think I'll move her this weekend. I guess since I am not trying to make a yield comparison with any sisters, I can multi-top her and go full-bush. Excellent... :D

I'm actually quite happy with this gender breakdown. It's not unusual at all to get 4/1, it would seem. I've had it happen a lot recently, and go both ways - which is why I have 4 Mirre phenos flowering.

This way I get a nice set of males to choose from for the Grape Skunk project, something to smoke, and I don't have to worry about an overstuffed tent for 2 months like I have with these Mirre... :wallbash:

Yeah, there's no guarantee of course but I'd bet there's lady-heavy half-packs waiting for me. (Hope so, that means lots of Wonder Haze girls left.)

Thanks, guys. :smoke:

The Mirre won't disappoint - every one of these is dripping with trichs. I didn't even do a very good job with them... scorched them to shit in veg with bad soil and got gunshy with nutes, leaving them underfed for most all of flowering. Imagine when I dial 'em in!

Che, I dunno how to call that question you asked me. I mean, I really don't and I've been trying for weeks. I'm still deciding between those same two strains for my next round. I'm leaning toward SLS since I just ran some of Karma's gear. When in doubt, variety.

Everything looks so much happier with elbow room. Gotta love it when you can pull 2 plants outta the tent and it's still stuffed wall-to-wall...

Hehe yea, no doubt. Wait'll that Romulan Kush buds up - center-back in that shot. It oughtta be as fat as those babies and just as tall - but with 3 tops. Having seen what she does under my buddy's 400 and my CFL box, I expect great things. She's fast, too. (55-60) :D

Mosca, thank you - and you're just in time! The two Tsi Fly are going now (front-left corner and middle-right side behind the Mirre in the pic above) so you'll get some familiar flowers for a bit. I had to cut that male due to insufficient flowering space. As I feared, he never flipped with ambient window-light even though it is well past 12/12 naturally here now. Just not enough light to make an impact, I guess. He looked good until the end.

I took a cut, so I do have his clone alive and well. It's *extremely* variegated and is absolutely lovely. So lovely I can't bring myself to kill it, anyway...

Away on business, so no pics for a couple days.
