Is it ok to trim?

I have some lr2's at about week 4 that are coming along nicely. Im wondering if it would be a good idea to trim some of the fan leaves back a little, both to let the light penetrate lower to some of the up coming bud sites and also as they are really starting to crowd the slightly limited space they are in. Obviously dont want to stunt growth though.

need a pic to give you a correct answer, I never cut leaves unless it is absolutly apparent to help the health of a plant. Cutting any fan leaves on such small plants is not a good idea,, instead try cutting off only 1 or 2 blades of a leaf that is covering a bud site. But as for LR#2 if the bud sites that are coming up from the very bottom, it might be worth cutting off the branch and giving that energy to the main top bud where most of the yield comes from.

If you got a pic would be really nice to see.

yeah i personally wouldnt bother trimming them back buddy but then it depends on the wattage of your light also i find that 600watt hps's will penetrate right through atleast 20inch of foliage im going to be posting my growing technique soon but im thinking maybe i should wait untill i can do run through of a grow at the same time to get some pics and stuff going! its pretty similar to your technique icc ( i do plan also on testing it against my own to see what results in a better bud ;) im sure it may just beat mine as i use chemicals instead of organics ( i have yield in mind ) but obviously now you present a way to maximize yields and get quality organics to smoke at the same time!

Thanks for the advice. I will get some pics uploaded as soon as I can. Some of the leaves that are now touching the walls are going a bit bad so i might trim them.

IMO, trimming fans leaves is dumb. especially on an indoor plant where the plant needs all the leaves to collect energy.

ditto only if you have a massive group blocking light or nitrogen sucked out yellow leaves

I would get a small 25W (or more) cfl and put it under the canopy.
When I do cab grows, I make sure the light is hitting the plant equally from almost everywhere. It makes the plants branch like crazy.

i would trim those 4 leaves on the bottoms of the plant. they are getting no light and are a waste of energy. i trim those 4 leaves off every plant and then leave the rest alone. it won't hurt the leaves if they are hitting a wall. leave those alone, it will be ok.
