Humboldtlocal said something about storing in oven bags a while back though I think he is switching to vac bags that inject nitrogen or another inert gas into the bags. Sounds cool but I don't know if he got his machine yet.

oven bags are as air tight as you can go without vac seal. and you cant realy smell it from outside the bag once you tie a knot in it. theyre made of cello plastic like cello tape and cellophane.

i used to get some weed from a guy, and when it was stinky, he would give it to me in an oven bag. he said for the smell. i didn't think it would work, especially how he "sealed" it, with basically a twist tie. when i got home, i opened the bag, and my place instantly stunk. must have worked, its like the poor mans vacuum sealed bag:)
any bag that you cook in the oven at 450, with food in it, has to be pretty crazy

last year when i used to pick up a lot of ganja it would come in oven bags, or i called them turkey bags. most of the time it would be double bagged. still got the car reaking after 4 or 5 hours. did not work that well, i can go into it more if need be. but those days are over and im on to bigger and better things. i have also gotten zips that are in vacuum bags, but puffed out and full of air. was top shelf shit and i was told that why it was like that. also i have vacuumed sealed weed, not at all a good idea unless your going over a boarder, or unless its hash. actually its a good way to press keef together, could even double broil it while it was under vacuum.:joint: :2cents:

The other great thing about oven bags are when you are done with the herb, you can marinade your chicken or veggies in the bag. That way you don't waste anything. Same with your Volcano bag.

I did not know about this...so does it take longer for the smell to permiate the cellophane bags opposed to normal plastic bags?

the smell just gets locked in,as long as you do a decent knot in the bag and dont let any of the stems bust through, for the price and the amount of smell they conceal they are gold.
one down side with oven bags is buds will go mouldy twice as quick compared to bein in a regular plastic bag if theyr not fully dry.

no smell gets thru oven/turkey bags. anyone who has had smell get thru them, poked a hole in em. ive had lbs and lbs of very smelly strains sitting directly behind the couch when company came unexpectedly. zero smell. i use them exclusively now. i need to get one of those heat sealers and see if it will seal them. that would be the ultimate. pack them in with activated carbon and even the dogs wouldnt be able to smell them

what these guyz said. NCGA turned me onto turkey bags YEARS ago. Only way to 'share' clones, and such with like minded folks. POUNDS gets shipped this way! There is also a smaller size bag for chickens, if you feel you don't need that much bag.

Yeah, I think Humboldt said something about there being a chemical coating inside of them that turns your buds brown with long term storage. Fucking rad. Do they make any oven bags without that coating in them or can you like turn them inside out or something? Not that anything in a turkey bag sits around very long or that it wouldn't be food safe. I guess it's just the ethics behind people smoking weird chemical coated herb.

The coating on the oven bags is what keeps the plastic from melting when you put it in the oven. It turns your pounds brown after about 4-6 months. If you are storing them in oven bags you should put them in ziplocks after 4 months. I am getting my bagging machine next week hopefully. It injects nitrogen after removing the air to keep pounds fresh for a really long time. Like at least two years from what I have heard. My pounds are all in oven bags right now but soon they will be in the bags that work with my new machine. They are 4mil pouches. A seal a meal bag is 3mil and very thick so these should be even thicker.
