Ok peeps! Finally some good news. And I need opinions!

I got a chance to get a really good job. On Wednesday I will have interview. Untill that day I must decide one thing:

TO CUT or NOT TO CUT.... my dreadlocks.

Let me explain: All the job interviews I have been so far I failed to get employed. No matter how hard I was trying. And I always get that strange feeling that people dont like me very much just because of my looks. It dissapoints me and I lose hope in a better humanity because of this. Cause... face it. Lots of (too many) people judge the book by its cover.

So... now the dilema is to cut my hair before the interview...? or later if I get accepted..? Eventually I will have to cause in this job it is not safe to have long hairs... afterall.... i will be fighting with fire.

That`s right... you guessed... I have a chance to become a FIREFIGHTER! :dueling:

I was really on the edge with decisions... and yesterday I almost did it. I was already convinced to do it and say bye-bye to my dreads

So... the question for you guys and gals is:

To cut my hairs before interview and increase my chance to get a job...

OR

Go there just the way I am... and... leave "faith" it`s own decision... you know... if it is meant to be it is meant to be....?

It would be really ironic if I would shave my head and then still would not get accepted. That would be a real SHIT!.... but then again... hairs grow quickly.

What do you people think?-... Should I cut it? Or let it be myself and see if Karma has a present for me? :ying:

I cut my hair and dont regret it at all. it was down to my mid back. it is more of a pain in the ass then it is worth. I still only get a hair cut like 3 or four times a year though.

Also it is just hair, it will grow back.

Most importantly though is fire fighters get mad pussy. You will be trading up bro. You will get laid alot. And if you dont get the job, then it will be easier to get another. Unless you sell mass ammounts you have to join the shitty rat race sytem.

I wouldnt cut it bro, there are woman firefighters too. Just tie your locks and tuck them in your helmet. But if they are really long then maybe make them shorter.
no point in cutting them bro, but its your hair so your decition
Peace

My initial reaction is to tell you not to cut them...

But I hear you loud and clear about people judging books by their cover... especially when Im over here in the UK (even worse is the city Im in)... When Im back home in Canada or in the Islands I couldnt be more proud to wear my Locs...

But over here it hurts.... knowin people are hatin on you just for your hair...

I see people walkin around lookin like a rainbow exploded on their heads... purple...green pink... all kinds or punk rockers with 6 foot mohawks and I know they arent judged as harshly as I am...

But someone told me when I started my Locs that they are goin to test you... Mentally Physically Emotionally and Spiritually... You started the journey, so only you can decide when to end it Stevius...

obviously if you dont want em any more, cut em... but if you do, then dont... make the decision for urself and based on wat you see in the mirror...

definately dont keep em or cut them to please someone else....

good luck with the interview either way, King

Blessings

Don't cut them just yet...
But make it known to the person doing the interview that the job is so important to you IF you get it you are willing to cut your hair if required.
This will show your serious about the job but do not cut your hair unless you actually get it..

Cut it, I had long hair most of my life and when I cut it about a month ago I felt so much better. It's less hassle and cut my shower time in half :biglaugh:.

Plus, it will help you get a job... and you won't scare off old lady's (but who cares).

Cut the hair you look like a walking fire hazard.

And the sign said,
"Long-haired freaky people
Need not apply."
So I tucked my hair up under my hat
And I went in to ask him why.
He said, "You look like a fine upstandin' young man.
I think you'll do."
So I took off my hat and said, "Imagine that.
huh, me workin' for you."

I keep mine a quarter inch long in the winter and and eigth inch in the summer. No sense in letting your hair get in the way of what you really want. Besides it keeps me sort of underground...

Well... I keep my dreads short... never over the shoulders...

Do you think that if I put a cap it would be better? I ussually dont wear a cap... I just let them be as they want to... but if I try to put all the dreads under the cap it looks a little bit silly. So I dont wanna end up even more "strange lookin"....

Ms. Grat3ful has a point there. I think it would be better if I show up with my dreads and clearly state that I will cut my hairs this instant moment if they take me. Maybe this would show them how serious I am...

Maybe I should bring scissors with me just in case... to demonstrate my seriousness...

Here are your choices: Don't cut your hair and be happy you stuck it to the man while being broke or working at a burger joint or you could cut that shit and have a bunch of new opportunities. Unfortunately, in the real world people do care about how you look. Also, it doesn't matter if you tell them you're willing to cut your hair, because they already saw your dreads and made impressions based on that. It's not about the hair it's about the perception most people have of people that decide to dread their hair. If you don't wanna be broke or working at a burger joint then you need to cut that hair. Also, I can tell you from experience that cops will waste as much of your time as possible searching your car and shit over a minor speeding ticket just for having long hair. It's a bitch, but that's reality.

Well... bro... Dont know where do you live.

But I had more problems with cops when I did not had dreads. At age 16 was already in police files... keeping records of everything I do. Believe... they used to stop me in the middle of the street and started searching me and my friend... and when they got back in car to identify our ID he comes back and searches me again infront of a police car with lights right at me, with one cop being in car watching me and the other one searchin me. Twice in the same proceedure. Needless to say I had some of weed but they did not find it. :bashhead:

I was a clever boy.
But those were different times for me. Anyway... my point is.. I did not had dreads back then. Now that I do have them... never had any problems with cops.

With scissors like this.... I think I have a 99% to get a job.
