Keep the fridge running. You've got built in AC.

Probably can't put a 1000W hps in there. But I would think a running fridge could keep up with a few compact fluorescents. Maybe even a 150W hid.

You'd probably want to put the fridge on a timer though, 15 min on/15 off. Because otherwise the motor will run constantly and burn up.

Fluorescents with a remote ballast would probably be your best bet for least heat generated so the fridge could keep the grow space cool.

most people I have seen gut them and install blowers and stuff. getting rid of the internals gives you extra space. I have seen them with veg on top flower on bottom, veg where the drawers are and a utility room on the top along with s seperated light system up top. so its all up to you. running it all the time will be costly. sort of like putting a space heater in front of your ac intake vent.

Do a search for threads by Freezerboy. He's been growing in fridges/freezers for a long time and he's got that shit dialed in.

just blast a 4" hole through the back with a hole saw..add a fan..punch enough 1" passive intakes in down at the bottom..done..
Freezerboy has the market cornered, but many of us have a fridge we grow in..
mine has a simple 100cfm cpu fan, and 8 cfl's on 2 different levels..
great cloning/mother chamber..

edit: did I say 100 cfm? might be 100mm..not sure..could be both I dunno..

If you get proper ventalation in there, your temps should come down alot .... Are you going to be just flowering the the fridge, or are you gonna split it up??

Also, gutting what you can will help to, all that plastic and foam on the inside can be removed (with alittle work) .... Does the fridge still work?? Ive been wanting to see someone do one with the fridge cooloing itself, where i live its cold so i havent got a chance to make one, but when summer hits again imma make one that still cools itself, but ventalation is key
