silica majic-anyone used this?

I used silica in my first two grows i found i never had to tie plants up and the claim of the product is to increase cell strength for stronger plant structure.
It is a pain in the ass because you can only add it to fresh water, and then after applying your nutes your PH will still be like 8+ because of the silica.
I notice Canna doesn't have a silica supplement, and i realized if their not trying to sell it there probably isn't any reason to use it on top of normal nutes.
