feel bad for teh women but you got to be careful around a 200 pound wild animal. she probably did something that the chimp would interpret as a threat and he attacked based on his animal instincts. chimps and wild animals fight all the time in the wild (killing other chimps etc). when the chimp attacked her he was most likely trying to kill her.

I honestly had no idea she got that badley malled. I remember when it happened and the Chimp was like the owners boy friend. She had it on Zanax that she didnt have a script for and gave it red wine all the time and human food. How tramatic. I feel so bad for the woman that was malled. I gotta agree with genkis. These chimp owners even call their pets "monkids." As if we could give human, child-like traits to animals that are supposed to be out in the wild. I read that she lost her husband and daughter and that she felt alone...but a huge pet chimp to comfort her? She was visiting a friend,Sandra Herold, the chimps owner, when she was attacked.

The owner tried to defend Charla, stabbing the Chimp several times with a butcher knife but retreated to her car to hide and wait for police after thinking Charla was dead.
