I'm so tormented. Who do I believe for lighting info? Hilbie or knna? :chin:

I mean, hilbie sure knows what he's talking about with the magic blue and red CFLs that don't put out any green...and look at his holy grail upon which he bases his opinion. Indeed, I even wanted to include some of hilbie's pics to show what I mean but IC must be on the blob - his pics don't show?????

Likewise, knna also knows his stuff, or at least makes out like he does, but observe his plants! I know right? Why bother with PLLs when you could have t8s? I mean, he was only getting .7gpw a year ago and I expect it's gone downhill from there.

I think since the PLLs clearly aren't performing for me (buds not fattening up), I will judge hilbie the winner on this one. You were right, man. That's us sorted out. See ya later. :wave:

avalanche i was refering to the chart above on your post, of course his was 5300k and hi pods was 4100k , but i do believe the lower k put more light in the green as u loose some of the richer blues, the spretrum moves away from it. well ninja your plants look really good to me. and hi pods grow was impressive not saying it wasnt-it was borderline magnificent. im looking forward to seeing your harvest, its going be beyond borderline magnificient-

things people forget when they compare the cost/benefit of hps and flouros , is all the other stuff.
With the climate in my country, besides a 600w hps, I used 70 watts on pumps, 250 on ventilation and scrubber, 1200 watt for a heater in the winter and much of other small things that add up.

The fluros can be put in a minimal setup, be cooled with a fan of less than 1 watt, and run perfectly in the climate of your living room.

@ahhhavalanche!

The colourcodes starting with 9, full spektrum, isn't optimal. They work hard to make bulbs like that with as small spikes as posible.
What you want is a tube with the lowes possible number in front of it's colourcode, the fullspec. thing is waste of light.
have you seen the triton bulb I run in my setup?

And the bulbs of my dreams, haven't found a place to buy them yet:

@superpedro im very interested in the bulbs you are using... I googled triton and all I was able to find was that they make aquarium bulbs. I also looked through your thread (real clean set up BTW), what specific bulbs are you using, did you just pick them up at your local pet store? That narvadanmark site was awesome, they laid out the spectrum for each of their bulbs, I wonder if there is somewhere to order them from...

Thanks mate.
I'm still looking for a shop to get the Narva stuff.
The bulbs I'm using now is "Interpet" triplus, but is most known as triton (I think it named from the mix of gasses), and it is an aquarium bulb specific for plants.
Try ebay :)
cheers
