Homebox Light Leak?

I'm thinking of grabbing a Homebox XS for a small, personal grow. I'm looking at some photos, and it appears it has some kind of passive, window intakes on the bottom. Are these prone to light leaks?

I know the Homebox is a well designed piece of kit, but I'd like to know what I'm getting into before making the plunge.

the 'passive window intakes' have 'solid material flaps' hanging over the top of them. These flaps are kept down when using the 'liner bottom'; the liner has a 3" high (or so) 'lip' around the inside of the tent. If im not mistaken, the liner lip has velco that corresponds to the 'flaps' in the down position.

nothing is 100% lightproof, but imho my 4 tents are darker than the night sky.

Nice. That's more or less what I was looking for. As you've mentioned, I'm sure every setup isn't black as pitch, but I'd like it as close as possible ;)

im using homebox xl, i think one of the first versions which came out. the window intake lets air in without leaking too much light outside. u may notice just a slight light leaks in the corner if u fix them tight to the frame.

with time it has some tiny tiny holes here and there, but u can only notice light coming out when its dark in the room the tent is in. but i cant see them in my dark tent with lights on in my room even after a hours hour waiting for my eyes to adjust..
works great for me and i know a bunch ppl who used it with success!

I have the growlab, and the flaps puzzle me. Because if you leave them open, you have light leaks. But if you close them, you can't use the intake. I should probably read the instructions, anyone else understand the purpose of these things? Are they used only for the veg period?

By the way I'm seeing it, the Homebox also has a port for a duct at the bottom. Could one retrofit one of those dark room louvers into there, and bypass the windows?

i have a homebox type copy with those flaps...i just duct taped them and no probs with that...but there are a shit load of pin holes leaks all over mine and leaks in the zipper which i just live with and try to run the tent in the day and dark period at night in a dark room so that prob is sorta fixed.HH. =]-~

I'm seeing a fair number of successful grows with the Homebox, so I'm assuming any light leaks are very minor and/or inconsequential.

i have tried it several times over the years, first at some friends box and now on mine.

turned of the light in the tent, took a chair and a joint and relax in the box, let a friend close it completely and fireup all light possible in the room.. i waited for almost a half hour and its completely dark in there.. much darker then outdoors at night... u cant ur own hand..

and as i said before, the light leaks out very little if u look at the tent close, but doesnt leak in...

Hello,
For Your Zipper Leaks I Took A Large Black Marker With Permanent Ink. Had To Do 2 Coats Worked Pretty Good. Next Time I'll Use An Air Brush For A Heavier Coat, Also You Can Fill The Pin Hole Leaks.
Thank You
