Best location for a dehumidifier?

G

Is there such thing as a "best location" within a grow room for a dehumidifier?
I was thinking a build a strong shelf above my rez's. The idea being the hot air coming off the back is that much closer to the ceiling. I have a mini split in their and the handler is mounted 8" from the ceiling.
Any thoughts?
Where do you guys put your dehuey? Does it even matter?

this is a question i wondered too..i was thinking about hanging mine from the ceiling with some chain....something like this.....dont laff at the pic. the green is the can fan and scrubber with vent out hoses....brown boxes are 1k lights....the grey thing up in the corner is kinda what i wanted to do....It has a hose to drain out....hell ill just fish it threw some mylar threw the dam wall into a big tub or bucket outside the room....think it will work?...i got to beat this humidity shit i hate cutting my herbs early.....

It would open a spot for a plant....and the heat that it puts off would pretty much be at the highest point and would be exhausted but I don't know if it would take care of the humidity.... my main humidity is when the lights are off....I leave a oscillating fan going on at night to simulate wind...

i think it might work....any thoughts? It would be a bitch to adjust but it's just a flower room, so it's kinda a set it and forget it type of deal

let me know whats up....

Good question... can't say I have ever read anything about optimal huey locations.

I am sure someone will chim in soon. I honestly just throw it in the corner of my room elevated about 3' high with a 40gal rez under it.

I have to say outside the grow room with a vent leading from the grow room to the dehumidifier. I was just moving the humidity out of the grow room. The next place I would put one is the drying room/humidor.

i've found that the middle of the room works best; the heat it generates dissipates easier and it tends to do a really good job of keeping the humidity level even throughout the room as opposed to having it in the corner

so the middle of the room is the best spot? thanks opt1c....any more ideas or views?

I ended up keeping mine at plant level. Had to put it on a milk crate 'cause my plants are on a table.

wherever it is going to be easy to drain it.

mine is off to one side, but no floor drain, so i must dump it when it is full.

just make sure you keep it 12 inches from any wall...

give it enough air circulation.

I don't think it matters, I have two units that both exhaust warm dried air into the room and have never had a RH problem (except when it's pouring rain outside.) I usually just keep em close to a drain or where I can plumb/power them easily.

well, i don't think it really matters where the dehuey is as much as where your controller/sensor is. my dehuey is off to the right(er) side of my room, but my sensor is hanging in the middle of the plants. that way i know the humidity is where i want it in the area of my plants.
