"short term controlled trials indicate that smoked cannabis reduces neuropathic pain, improves appetite and caloric intake especially in patients with reduced muscle mass, and may relieve spasticity and pain in patients with multiple sclerosis."

'Smoked Cannabis' that's right!....not a pill but a joint. Wonder what Kerlikowske has to say to that!

Holy sheet! I just realized what this really means! It should mean that ANY doctor should now feel free to prescribe cannabis. They might need to conduct a formal study, but it really liberates the medical profession to discuss cannabis as a viable alternative treatment.

Regular MDs around the country could get innudated with requests. :)

At last the medical community can feel free to learn more and pass on the info to patients who can benefit.

"the Schedule I status of marijuana be reviewed with the goal of facilitating clinical research and development of cannabinoid-based medicines, and alternate delivery methods."

in other words the American medical association is saying make it legal enough for bug pharma can develop it into commercial medicines

make it a schedule that allows for research, not it is a medicinal agent in it natural form

I think if you had any idea of the amount medications that are endorsed by doctors who are paid on the back end for said endorsements

ive posted news articles about that here prior

FUCK THE AMA

they sued my grandfather to get him to raise his fee because they felt he charged to little

Amazing that every institution (government, medical, religious) that turned there back on the rights of marijuana users for all these years are immediately embraced as making huge strides at changing marijuana's legal status

THE ONLY REASON THEY GIVE A FUCK IS CAUSE THEY SEE SOMETHING IN IT FOR THEMSELVES

thats how i see it

being able to use it in a trial is not freedom for all doctors to prescribe it to all patients and does not guarantee that anyone will be able to manufacture it

This is another step in the right direction! Kind of funny, this statement came so late, and it just so happens it was right after the memorandum was sent out to all the federal agencies concerning medical cannabis. Sounds like politics has played a role.... They couldn't sit there on their same old assertion that cannabis has no medical value, when so much attention is being brought to the subject!

The process is long, but the ball has absolutely got rolling! :woohoo: :headbange

Time.com has a video with Richard Lee that talks about how marijuana could be legal in california very soon. There is a petition out right now to get it on the 2010 ballot. It would tax marijuana and alow for anyone 21 and older to have 1oz on them legally no medical card needed! check it out.

Looks like there is no stopping that rolling ball now. About friggen time. Now we really need to make some noise here in the UK where the government holds the stance that cannabis holds no medicinal value at all.

will this force the government to reschedule it as a schedule II substance? schedule I is designated for drugs with no medical value.

I would have to agree with "ureapwhatusow" on this one. Things in this country are changing very quickly under this administration. In my mind - mostly for the negative. The prospect of socialized healthcare, inflation on the horizon and more and more of your dollar being sucked out of your pocket everyday in the form of new taxes leaves a lot of the country in despair. No better way to sooth that depression than to give citizens a little bit of their god given freedom back and allow them to partake in a little relaxing smoke! Oh and by the way - now that they are going to let you do that, they will find a way to make a ton of money off of it!

Just makes it easier for everyone to swallow all of the other "BS" that is being shoved down their throats...

It said that they were recommending that it's status be reviewed so that research can be opened up, officially, by those douce bags.

But as was pointed out above, they see something in it for themselves. They're not doing it because it's the right thing to do, had that been the case it would never have been illegal in the first place. They see dollar dollar bills ya'll.

Either way, it's a step in the right direction and I'm happy to see it!

and i come off extreme at times but this is my basic slant on all of legalization

not saying no to any one proposed solution

but im saying based on my experience in this country and this issue

that rushing to anything may not properly serve our rights in the long term

even in my statements in the tax thread my point is to make the government and all bodies that have been involved in the illegal classification of marijuana fully disclose as our rights allow, the complete scope of their proposals regarding the legalization and the use of the resources gained by it

they fucked us many times before primarily because no one cared to see that they would be accountable for their failures and exploits

Almost every day, another story pops up in the news about cannabis. It is fun to watch it slowly become legal. And I vote we don't suck any dicks at all... that's just me.

Historic news...The AMA is pathetically conservative...except when rushing drugs to market. Testing used to require 7 years for certification...now I think it's 3 with lots of recalls of bad drugs on the market.

I was told that names like "Panama Red" and "Columbo" were registered years ago in preparation for the day pot became legal...

In other news -

Scientists now believe that perhaps the earth could in fact be ROUND!!

and

Studies by extreme radicals seem to indicate that the earth orbits the sun - instead of the other way around!

Experts agree that further studies are probably warranted despite intense resistance from government and religious groups...

a giant snowball with a nuclear shit-missile inside, and its rolling down the hill right towards the prohibitionists.
its going to be fun watching cannabis become legal....

i have a feeling alot of angry people might have alot of questions for the gov't and dea
once the majority of america realizes they've been lying out their asses and prosecuting innocent people for 75 years.

:yeahthats... it's like the Twilight Zone out there. We live under an entrenched theocracy... the upscale Taliban! Pervasive and willfully ignorant, they set the moral tone for the country: anachronism, xenephobia, intolerance, and FEAR!

They are the true paranoids among us...and I salute them :moon:
