Why is it called a roach?

In a dim moment i came to think about roaches and marijuana.
The butt of a marijuana-cigarette is called a roach but the only resemblence I can see is that marijuana-butts are as abundant in my appartment as roaches are in thailand.

Otherwise - completely blank.
So please fellow icmag users educate me!

I also assumed it was the color and shape of a smoked joint that just looks like a roach. Both are generally fatter in the front, and come to a smaller tip on the end.

they are hard to get rid of even if you want to, nobody really wants them, they smell bad, they taste bad, often become rock hard like a roach, often end up under fridges and counters ect.
if your desperate enough to smoke a roach you might be hungery enough to eat a roach too lol...
