do you Ph your runoff?

so i have been having a few purpling issues and i found my coco's run off to be about 6.5 when i put 5.8. Does anyone Ph there run off from the coco, or does it naturally have a high ph run off do to its high CEC taking up so much calcium.

No. I have only checked the pH of my run off once about 2 years ago...only in trying to diagnose a deficiency.

What kind of "purpling" issues? Buds, leaves, stems, roots etc. What are your temps, usually that causes some "purpling" in plant.

doent matter how much ya flush the runoff will be higher than what goes in.,,
I flushed some coco over a dozen times ,put my girls in it and three weeks later the plant is fine and still the ph was higher than the feed,,ppms stayed the same
most folks say dont matter what coming out its whats going in

Not true. My PH is currently coming out lower than whats going in.

stoney is that a good thing or a bad thing?

i flushed the girls tonight with some canna at EC .6, thats low for week 2.5 of flower right? i figured i would more up from there, i have a Blue Lab meter with uses an EC conversion of .5 so i was getting PPMs of like 290. The water comming out was definatley 390 for a hot minute and thenas the ppms normalized on the run off so did the ph, down to a 6-6.3 range.

So am i right in assuming that it was getting those salts out rather than adjusting the pH that was the goal of this flush. I think they are already feeling better

In my case it’s a bad thing. I was using a cheap test kit and my PH got too low. Since then I’ve flushed and feed at the correct PH, but runoff will still come out lower. Just pointing out that it is possible (in less than perfect situations) for your runoff to come out lower than what you’re feeding.

I dont have an EC meter so ill leave the rest of that question to the pros.

let me ask you this, after you got the PH going in right did they improve drastically even though the pH comming out was lower?

dark my man don't read the runoff read your plants. coco is such a quick acting medium that this is possible to do. i told you that your plants looked fine that purpling is normal on LOTS of strains at the right temps (especially if there is a night/day temp swing)

as long as your getting runoff every watering OR flushing with a flushing agent once in a while you have nothing to worry about. the goal of the flush is to rid the medium of salt buildup; keep the input PH consistent and you will be golden

Cation Exchange Capacity in Coco
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=2593669&postcount=1

in part:
plants 'exchange' ions for ions during uptake. for every 1 potassium (k+) or ammonium (nh4+) ion absorbed, 1 hydrogen (h+) ion is released into media+nutrient solution. this is fundamentals of cations exchange... for every 1 calcium (ca++) or 1 magnesium (mg++) ion absorbed, the root releases 2 hydrogen (h+) ions.

thus, absorbtion of cation makes ph decrease, or become more acidic. why >ph (ph decreases) as ammonium nitrogen 'n' is used by plant. (recalling that ph is measured via # of h+ ions in solution...). also, as plant absorbs nitrates and phosphates, more hydroxyl (0h-) and bicarbonates (hc03-) [recall baking soda to raise ph...]. why <ph (ph increases) when nitrate nitrogen 'n' used by plants.
enjoy your garden!

these were on some blueberrys where they definatley had a problem. Hehe, these are the girls in flower so there cal mag def was on a whole nother level.

this is what has been taking my brain a very long time to process, but it is crystal clear in there now
