Anyone playing on here?? I just heard about it about a week ago. I won $460 last night playing .50/1 blind cash games. I'm pretty stoked.. trying to decide whether to cash it out or go for more lol.

You think playing computer poker is an honest gig? You can only lose if you continue, this is the IQ portion of life's test. Gambling for money is for suckers, computer gambling is foolish and naive.

I don't know about that. I know an individual that has payed for a huge chuck of his college education playing that game on the computer/real games.

You won four and a half buy-ins. Not bad. Now, if you are better than the competition continue. If you were just lucky get out while you can. :)
Just ask yourself, do you know when to continuation bet and two barrel? Do you know fold and pot equity? Do you know against what types of player to be aggressive with? Do you know when to three bet for value with not so strong hands?
If you don' know at least these things run while you can. :)
If you do know these basic things and the more complicated stuff please continue, you are way above the competition and will win in the long run. Heck, Pokerstars gave me $2 to start playing and I turned it into $640 in a short time playing 20 tables.

If I were setting up gambling software, having folks win at first would be part of the program. In real life gambling, you can win with your wits, or with luck, but most loose in the long run. With no cards, you are trusting a web site to be honest?

in all honesty you can make a good living off gambling, but not everyone can do it. its like athletes. never heard of reefer poker that sounds funny.

people have tested this on all the major sites over millions of hands. they found out that it isn't rigged. if you are smart and motivated there's no reason you can't make a lot of money playing poker.

60 minutes did a piece last year about several sites in Canada that were either shady, owners friends the big winners, or compromised, someone with access to the software who could cash in on that somehow. Do what ya want, there is one born every minute.

Haps,

I had the same attitude you have, 4 years ago. Then I started playing, and once you actually start researching this stuff a bit you will realize that the online poker sites have nothing to gain from cheating. They earn money in every hand played on their site, a pot of $100 will see $1-3 go to the site. They want people to play as much as possible, they dont want you to lose your money to another player, and then have him run away with your money.

The sites have big-name companies working to verify the fairness of the games and they apply very advanced algorithms to produce randomness (smth like multiplying a random number based on the cosmic radiation which is in constant flux with the millions of keystrokes and mousemovements).

And finally, those companies you speak of, namely absolutepoker and ultimatebet, have more or less lost all of their customerbase after that incident.

So my advice is, stick to a known site and there is absolutely no chance of you being cheated. Ill even go so far as to claim ur safer online than at ur neighbours house playing on the kitchentable.

Now, that being said, poker is degenerative and you should stay as far away as possible. There is no way, whatsoever, you will come out of your venture into poker a better person.

I have been playing live and online poker for about 10/8 years respectively.

I am good.

However, It takes me about 4-5 hours to win 200-300 online. I can win that in about half the time in a live game.

Online is filled with all types, and it really keeps your game sharp IMO. Played 1600 people for 8 grand last night. Finished in the low 300s. Won a 90 player SnG on FT last Sunday and won about 580 bucks.

It's a nice way to make some extra cash, but I have friends who are 1000s into FT.

I would suggest making a very small deposit at first and then, assuming you win a bit, try to cash part of it out.

I have found getting money out of even some of the bigger sites to be a real hassle.

Also make sure that no one else using your ISP connection plays on the same site, there have been many cases of the site refusing to pay out because of "multiple accounts" violating their TOU, even when it was husband/wife or flatmates sharing a computer or ISP connection.

Google "Bodog Complaints" or "Full Tilt Poker Complaints" or whatever company name to get a taste of possible problems.

Also realize that most of those "Deposit Bonus" deals are illusory for small time players as they depend on your playing for fairly high stakes and quite often.
