Beating any addiction starts with making choices, tough ones... but it sounds like you might be ready to make those choices. If you are then you will suffer your DTs and start over back at square one cuz even though you know it will be hard, a life as an addict is harder and you know it! you might need help, but you WILL recover if you have made the desicion...taking that first step is huge, mate... but it needs to be taken!

Even the longest journey starts with a single step....

be lucky mate

To the OP

Sounds like you are bad enough that you need to DETOX and rehab. If/when you relapse, keep going back. Go to AA meetings. Exercise. If you are already at a point where you are having withdrawals you do need professional help. You will have a much better chance at succeeding. States have in/outpatient programs that don't cost a lot. You said you don't need AA, but you don't know what you need right now. Listen to others who have travel this path. Ignore them at your peril.

SpasticGramps knows what he's talking about, it might seem like a long road but in the end its the only thing that forces you into another view of life and by that changing your scenery; resulting in your cure. You are as mentally strong as you want to be.

I want to thank you guys so much for all of the helpful advice. I just got back from the Doctors office about a hour ago she gave me some really good medicine and stuff to help with the anxeity and stuff. I just now calmed down enough to get on here and post. The medicine is helping I still feel very jittery and restless but I seem to be keeping it under control as of right now. I just can not wait for this detox to be over I never have a desire to touch any alchol again this was so not worth it. And I am not nearly as deep in as some people, I just saw where I was going quickly and know it needed to stop. It is still hard but I will make it.

Thank you all.

I 2nd the guy who recommended you take a little psychedelic trip, there's nothing like spending a weekend camping in the mountains and figuring yourself out. I'm not sure if the drug tests pick up psilocybin though, but if you time it right it'll be out of your system by the next drug test... It can be a real help in getting a different perspective on yourself and your life

I really dont wanna commit myself to a hospitial but I will if I have too. If the symptoms get worse I will. Right now the medicine the doctor gave me seems to be fending off the symptoms pretty good. I just feel very anxious

Now you need to focus your thoughts on something else, and a change of scenery will go a long way.

Good luck to you and reach out for help when you're feeling weakened. Keep your family and friends close and ask them for support. You can take control of alcoholism, but you know it's a process and it will take time. Expect your setbacks too and don't look at them as failure. Good luck to you.

I know I said it once, but I'll say it again. AA, AA, and more AA. They are just meetings, nothing you should be ashamed or scared of. You go, hangout, pick up a sobriety chip and don't even say anything if you don't want to. Listen to crazy stories about where you could very easily be in a short while. You have other major issues besides drinking, but the booze won't let you address them and will continually make them worse until you stop. Be it by choice, death, or jail.

Here is the tough love part. Lots of people deal with alcoholism. Many, many people are directly or indirectly killed by it. I hear you say, "oh but I'm not that bad yet" You are already rationalizing your next drink. You better get in the mindset of, you have a disease and it's going to eventually kill you. That's your reality now. How many people do you know survive cancer without going and getting professional help. Not too many. How many survive alcoholism without any help. Not too many. For God's sake just go sit in on a couple of meetings.

glad you got something to start with at the docs..

get yourself some sort of a goal to aim for...

write yourself a sign ..."I DONT DRINK ANYMORE"..."I AM BIGGER THAN THIS...I WILL WIN...THE DRINK WILL FAIL" ....ect...what ever works for you and put it somewhere you will see it everyday...i did something like that and it helped....my sons was my main goal...and i did it...all the best.HH. =]-~
