wow man
im super impressed.
now i noticed you said this is your first hid grow. have you done these lowryder under cfl?
if so what was that yeild?
anyways great harvest man and enjoy your hard work!

Thanks man I appreciate the kind words. My first 2 grows of Diesel Ryder were both under CFL from seed to harvest. My next grow was under CFL for about a month then under the HPS for the rest. This is my first official grow using my HPS from seed to harvest.

As far as weight goes
1st grow, 2 plants, 180w mixed CFL: 5-7g of bud each and 472 total seeds (seedrun)
2nd grow, 1 plant, 180w mixed CFL first month, finished under single 68w CFL on 12/12: 9g dry
3rd grow, 2 plants, 180w mixed CFL first month, finished under a 150w HPS: 12 & 13g dry
4th grow, 8 plants, 150w HPS: 12.4 to 20.9g each dry

All grows were finished on 20/4 except the 2nd one, which had to be put in another flowering cab so i could rid the mini fridge of gnats. Damn gnats....grrrr......

Wow what a great ending to your grow. Very impressive. Happy smoking

Thanks a lot! I shall enjoy every minute of the smokage :)

so that 5-7grams is minus seeds right? just broken up weight? that totally reassures me, because im doing a diesel ryder run under 420 watts of cfl, and im starting 14 or so, and hoping to get 5 males, and 5 females, i want to hit an ounce smoking weight and 1,000 seeds, and any extra females are going to get run for some sensi

Yeah that weight is without the seeds. My wife and I actually picked all the seeds out by hand with some plastic coated paperclips. It took over 2 hours with one of us on each plant and the plants were only 5.5 and 7 inches tall, haha!

I would not, however, go for 1000 seeds for many reasons. Most importantly, I found out recently that the more seeds you get from a plant the lower their potency after a certain point. This has not been proven but has also not been dis proven so why chance it right? Another reason is because if you have 1000 seeds, the chances that a seed may produce a plant that does not grow to your liking will increase.

For example, I had 472 seeds and the majority of them grow nice tall plants with 1 main cols and nice fat side colas. However, a couple of my plants didn't get any taller than 6-7 inches and produced far less bud under the same conditions. I even had one that would have been 6 inches taller than the rest if I hadn't LST'ed the hell out of her. If I could do it all over again I would only pollinate 1 or 2 buds my first go around and get a good 50 seeds or so. Then you can take the nicest looking, most optimal shaped female and pollinate her with a good healthy male from that batch. Do that a few times and eventually almost 100% of your seeds will be plants that are more to your liking. Just my 2 cents. If you do pollinate more than 1 plant, keep all the seeds separate and mark them somehow so you don't mix em up.

Also keep in mind, if you are doing a seed run, don't even worry about the smoke because it will be crap. All the more reason to leave a few buds not pollinated so you have some decent smoke. The seeded smoke tastes like crap and isn't very potent.

Good luck man

the diesel ryder i have is not joint doctors but bred from that, and is alot more consistent, and an ounce of any bud is better then none, i have 14 seeds so i will hopefully have the 5-5 rate and have a couple sinsi females

Awe inspiring grow KB! You are on your way to dialing in that setup. I'm sure you'll get those A11 figured out quick enough to maximize your setups potential. I hope I don't come across as never satisfied but I can't wait to see this next grow :)

Come on man, I know all that harvest is smoked up! You got anything going in the fridge to resupply yourself? I'm very impressed by your numbers and would just like to see the fridge grow continue. Good luck man!

Great thread KolorBlind, and nice job of getting the most bang for your buck out of that setup. Threads like this help keep me inspired while I wait for things to move along in my little cabinet.

I'm running my first 12/12 seed grow, and will be trying as many different strains as I can lay my hands on. Things are in the early stages now, but I'll keep it up to date as things happen!

Very impressive grow man great job. I'm running a mini fridge too tho not nearly as nice as yours. I have been thinking of getting some of them auto-flower strains. For now I'm just running some freebies i got from a friend but the wait is killing me. have to wait for veg and then 8+weeks of flower. Really makes me want to get some auto flowers. have you ran any other strains of auto flower? and what would you recommend?

This is a perfect example of how well AF's can do in a small space with only a 150w. I subscribed long ago and show this page to any that are interested in the magic that is auto-flowering genetics.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support. I have not been around much recently and for that I apologize. What I have left of the Diesel Ryder (Approx 20 grams hehe) continues to improve in both taste and potency the longer I keep it around.

hukkahtokes - This is the only AF strain I have grown so far. Personally I would not recommend it for the simple fact that it is EXTREMELY stinky! The stink is oh so intoxicating though, so if smell is/was not a factor this would be a pleasure to have around.

I figured I would do a bit of a strain report for anyone interested in growing Diesel Ryder. This is nothing official just my personal opinions from the 4 Diesel Ryder harvests I have had. I will simply rank a few things 1 to 10 with a brief description.

Strain: Diesel Ryder by Joint Dr (NYC Diesel x LR2)
Lights: Single 150w HPS
Light Cycle: 24/0 First 2 Weeks, Then 20/4 Till Harvest
Soil Less Mix: 3.5gal Sunshine Mix, 1gal Perlite, 1Cup Bone Meal
Nutes: 2Tbs Molasses Per Gallon Every Other Watering

Seed to Harvest: 9
As little as 55 days will get you decent smoke, 65 was about perfect. Cant get much better than that even with some AFs.

Ability to Stay Short: 10
These plants can very easily be kept short. I yielded up to 21g from 9" tall plants. Shortest ever was 5.5", yielded 9g bud dry and approx 230 seeds.

Yield: 7
While the top bud gets extremely dense, it stays rather small and the undergrowth is not too dense at all.

Smell: 1
I designed a can style carbon scrubber with a 2" layer of carbon. At week 6 you could smell the plants from just outside my front door! Would be a 10 if smell was a good thing, but for me it was a deal breaker.

Taste: 9
The taste of this bud is completely distinct. It is very fruity after curing with a nice skunky aftertaste.

Potency: 7
While AFs are generally less potent, I find that without curing, this bud is considerably less potent than other strains I have grown.

Grow Difficulty: 4
This would be a 2 if every plant was the same. The only difficulty I had was keeping the canopy even in my SOG. Couldnt be much easier otherwise.

Tolerance to Heat: 8
I kept mine less than 4 inches from a bare 150w HPS with minimal burning. I then learned that less than 4 inches is too close anyways. Cab temp avg: 81F

Overall Rank: 7
The smell factor was the biggest downfall to this strain. The potency didnt help but was acceptable. I would love to always have this in my stash, as it is great "daytime" smoke, but Im afraid the risk involved with the smell isnt worth it. The taste and smell are definitely distinct and recognizable to anyone who has grown it. The appearance is very good, and the top buds get incredibly dense. I managed to easily keep mine under 10" on average, but Ive seen others grow 3 footers, so the flexibility there is a huge benifit. I could see this strain seriously thriving outdoors, but Im afraid it probably wont make anymore appearances indoors for me. If it does it certainly wont be in large numbers again.

I cant think of a whole lot more and its getting late. If anyone would like to know anything else feel free to ask. I got some time before I start my Apollo11 grow.

Peace
KB

KolorBlind - Very nicely done.... my friend is currently using a fridge with mixed results so far...

Dont worry.... I've pointed him in this threads direction as your gr/watt shows the success of your growing techniques!!

Keep those green fingers growing!!
