So when the CO MMJ scene started to take off, I got my doc's rec. I figured I'd be able to sample some really fine herbage from a local dispensary.

What a disappointment so far. What they've had has been limited quantity, few strains, and the bud looks like it has been manhandled - really poor compared to what I've grown before.

My first bagseed grow produced bud way better than what I've been able to get from this dispensary. I can't wait to start pulling my own again in a couple more months.

So, for those of you who are growers, and also have had dispensary buds, how do they stack up against each other?

must be a bad dispensary because all the legal means if gone through have had nothing but great meds. if theres a strain thats not super good they tell you and its always much cheaper.
if my bud stacks up to there buds i will be stoked! i think it just might too! :D

Doesn't most of the collective weed come from the member's who "home grow" it? I have had good and bad experiences in collectives. Some places will tell you straight up if it's good or not, while other's will try and sell you the crap, just to get rid of it. I only have a few harvests under my belt, but I think my weed would be in the middle. I think that once you get growing down, your weed would be the best you've ever smoked, and more rewarding knowing that you were the one who brought life to the plants, and you aren't paying $50-60 an eighth.

quick-dried early-harvested organic home-grown is > 90% of the dispensary bud in so cal.. mainly because all the cuts being sold are elites anyway

Damn you.....(for having what I want!!)
it's the real deal too, older Motarebel stock I found online after he was busted, I now have two packs of Herijuana seeds left to my name, one is promised out to a kind friend and the last will be grown by me when MN becomes a legal state, no sooner. I just harvested my last small indoor crop and made no clones.......

there are rumors however that efforts are being made to generate the strain again

That is how it is supposed to be but unfortunately the dispensaries have been drifting further and further away from this model.

When I first got my letter 4 years ago, the flowers were more expensive but nicer. Micro grown flowers were more common.

Since that time the scene has become far more competetive and everybody caters to the "young adult" customer, who is more likely to be a budget consumer.

This paved the way for the $40-$45 1/8th market. Dispensaries have been buying in bulk from comercial farmers, often times from the 707 area.

The quality has taken a nose dive.

Now a days, its pretty hard to find dispensary weed that is as good as my homegrown, and I only use GH 3 part and tap water.

A couple of spots I know buy small quantities from their patients, they always have some nice stanky jars, but these places are the exception.

Most sell hay.

Well I suppose it depends on where you are, but it's apparent that our locals are scrounging whatever they can get from whomever they can. Maybe it will be better when they start harvesting, but I have no idea whether they really have a clue about producing good herb in the quantities needed to supply their patients.

Thats why legalization without the right to grow your own is worse in my eyes than what we have now.At least now I can control what and how much I want to smoke and grow.I dont like the idea of dispenseries it would never fly in Florida. They are too conspicuous. If you were allowed to pay a tax for growing your own erb it wouldn't be conspicuous at all hell nobody would know anything has changed.Except the folks in their town may seem a tad happier

Ive been going to collectives for years and have only found a handfull of herbs that are as good as we can grow. Most ppl take their cannabis too early[imo] and doesnt get to its full potential.
I work in a collective now and see all kinds of samples brought in, and most I wont even try. Someone mentioned the hay smell and thats what most of it like for me. And they ALL say how good they grow and how dank thier weed it! heheh
Nothing like your own smoke.

Hay smells like hay,Hey hey hey.If your erb smells like hay,I say nay nay nay.

I hope to be at that stage someday soon. And then the worst problem you have is "what to grow next?"

don't get me wrong, there r good meds at dispensaries *sometimes at some places* but homegrown small batch quality goes for a hefty price, like 70+ dollars an 1/8th is NOT uncommon.. sadly.. The club i regularly visit sells 80 dollar 1/8ths and up.. grams are 20-30.. i think amsterdam has similar prices right?
