Anyone going to be watching Strikeforce next weekend? I'm going to get hammered for it later if I'm wrong but I think Brett is going to shock the world and beat Fedor. I'm also looking forward to Jake Shields and Jason Miller fighting for the middleweight title, Mousasi -vs- Sokoudjou, and Werdum -vs- Silva.

And also on the same day is Sengoku's Eleventh Battle. (Hioki -vs- Omigawa, Santiago -vs- Khalidov, Kitaoka -vs- Masvidal, Sandro -vs- Hoshino)

Rua was respectful towards Machida in his comments, where as Machida was quite arrogant and direspectful in his i felt.

Rua was walking forward, being offensive, this is aggression. yes shots landed, meaningful shots always count.
Yes Rua did take shots and Machida did counter well at times, but Rua landed the more meaningful shots and more of them.

Dana and pretty much every fighter except Silva said Shogun won.

The rematch will be interesting, i wonder whether who will be happy to stand and trade or take it to the ground...this might say something about who really won this 1st fight!?! :joint:

I just want to say that Rua never really pushed into Machidas game that was part of his strategy. Thought he made that part relatively clear.

Ok this is the last thing im saying about Machida until the rematch.

Machida fights with a more traditional karate stance/style as we know, which is all good and exiting marketing for UFC.

Problem is that when it comes down to it, this traditional karate style is not really all that effective, hence why when you look at K1 etc you rarely see it, even the karate trained guys will move more towards thai style.

What happened was that he came up against someone(Rua) with some reasonable thai technique (kicks in particular) and knew how to use it, and exposed his Karate style.

If you look at his other fights you will see when he has fought anyone with a small amount of thai training he has taken the fight to the ground pretty quick and then won. This is what he should be doing becuase generally ( not always of course) thai beats Karate and has been shown to do so again and again.

the fact that Machida didnt want to take it to ground tells me he didnt feel confident (he has trained with rua) that he could win on the ground and obviously felt he had a better chance counter fighting standing up.

I think this will make for a very good rematch which i cant wait for!...will Machida 'adapt' his stand up style or will he try the ground!!??

Will we see a diffenrent Machida in the rematch, hopefully a Machida who has learnt what most people learnt many years ago.

anyway enough analysis bull sorry for going on about it but i personally feel Machida's style was over rated, saying that i also think Rua isnt that special to be honest his stand up leaves a lot to be desired.

As for the Fedor fight, Brett is unbeaten and hungry and although a bit sloppy, has power in his hands, He is a danger and i also think Fedor to be a bit over rated, wont be suprised if brett wins, not 100% on his ground game, i think Fedor may animalise him!!!

anyway happy halloween all!! :witch2: :joint:

Wats up Nate,

Im lookin forward to Mousassi vs Sokoudju too... But theres no way Sok stands a chance... I see Mousassi goin easy on him, just so he doesnt actually murder him in the ring! :D

I think you may be right about Rogers... I'll stand with you and say he just might do it... I dont particularly like or respect his game, nor do I think he's deserving of a fight against Fedor, but he just might land one of those lucky hands like he did on Arlovski...

Miller vs Sheilds will be interestin for sure... Its a good game plan Miller uses tryin to be a jackass and clown to get under his oppenents skin and piss em off... But he's got skills too for sure...

Like I said in the other thread, I really dont think theres a need for a Machida/Rua Rematch... I trully feel Rua won... without question... and if the judges had not been playing UFC Undisputed on xbox 360 and had actually been watchin the real fight, Rua would have the belt he deserves, and Machida would have to work his way back to #1 contender status... And I think Dana would have definately put Anderson and Rua in the ring sometime in early 2010...

Check what Lyoto had to say after the fight :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugxd8ep8dU4&feature=player_embedded

Im glad to hear Lyoto busted his hand and needs surgery, so the rematch isnt happening at 108...

Thiago Alves got hurt so isnt fighting Fitch in 107...which sux... Alves is one of my favorite fighters and I actually really wanted him to take the belt from GSP... He just didnt stick to his gameplan like he should have... got sucked into playin GSP's... his MT is REDICULOUS! look at the beatin he put on Hughes! HE is one man that is deserving of a rematch against the Champ!

Watch out for Terry Etim next month at 105!!! Team Kaobon, Liverpool represent!!

Peace ya'll!

I also think that Mousasi is going to streamroll Sokoudjou. It's really not a match up that makes sense to me (but I am a fan of Sokoudjou...) but Strikeforce really has no one at Gegard's level within his division to put him up against besides Sobral but there's no need for that obviously. He's said he'll never move back down to middleweight so with that out of the picture, hopefully he moves up to heavyweight sooner than planned where there are atleast a few nice fights. I don't know if Fedor and him would fight each other though if the situation was presented.

Jason Miller is no slouch but Jake Shields is on a different level and I think he will win the middleweight title. I wonder if he's completely abandoning the welterweight division (where he's ranked in the top 5) or just taking a break? It's a nice matchup. I'm sure there will be some competitive exchanges on the ground but I think Jake will earn the decision by controlling the majority of the fight.

I'm also interested to see how Werdum will deal with Antonio Silva's size.

As for the Rua -vs- Machida rematch - like some of you have said, I really don't think it's necessary because I feel that Rua won four out of five rounds. But if the outcome of the bout is not changed and the belt doesn't change hands as it should, than it absolutely has to happen just so Shogun can hopefully take what's rightfully his. It'll be a really sad situation though if Lyoto wins the rematch.

“I'm God then. I'm the God of MMA. I'll become the God of MMA, right? Isn't that how it goes? I'm the soul snatcher; I'm the grim. I'll take all his wins and put them under my belt, and then everybody can just hush up… I'm going to knock him out. He's going to give me his chin, somehow, some way.” (Brett Rogers)

- I had to post it once more since we're getting very close to the fight.

**Spoiler Alert- TUF 10 Junk vs Matrione***

Ok... well that last TUF episode was one of the absolute WORST displays of athleticism I have EVER seen!!!

I refuse to believe that man Matt ever had any sort of NFL football carreer... Unless he was nothing more than a Waterboy!!

Junk has a very fitting last name...

1 min into the fight I thought I was watchin the last minute of the 5th round of some championship heavyweight slug fest! They could barely even stand and both of them looked like they were having asthma attacks!!! WTF?!?! Neither of them were hurt... they just had less than zero conditioning! They were actually TAPPING each other on the face!

You're gonna blow up talking about 'c'mon motherf----!' to your own team mate, then turn around and put on a display like that during the real fight?!?

I dont know WTF Dana was watchin to become so excited... that was a garbage fight, and I think both of em should be kicked off the show and put KIMBO back in!!!! :D

Its horrible to say, but I desperately want someone to get hurt or sick or better yet just bitch out and get KIMBO back in there!!!

Rampage has lost ALL my respect for him as a Man, as a Human and damn sure as a fighter... Every episode makes me feel like I wasted years bein a fan of his... he's not even an asshole... he's a RECTUM and just completely full of shit!!!

So glad he's gone!

Country's gonna win this season for sure... go place your bets and make some money... you can thank me later ;)

Peace

Conditioning does seem to be an issue even at the top of UFC etc. This is pretty poor when people are paying to watch fights, they should be putting on fighters with enough fitness to actually fight the bloody rounds, wouldnt be so bad if it was only now and again but it seems all to common!!!

If i had 100 bucks I'd put it down on Rogers to win against Fedor. Not that I think Rogers has much of a chance, but anythings possible. Anyways, I don't have a hundred bucks to spare, so I'll not have to root for Rogers! After seeing how Mirko fared in the cage, does one not wonder if the cage may affect Fedor adversly as well?

Mirko more about standup and fedor really supreme ground game. I think the cage helps ground fighters therefore I think he will adapt very well. just my opinion

Yeah, I agree Texican. IMO, Fedor finds a way to take an opponents best gameplan and trash it, he's a very smart fighter. Anyone can get caught, MMA is full of upsets. I'd really like to see Lesnar vs. Fedor sometime in the next year.

Would love to see the matchup myself was really upset that Fedor signed with Strikeforce but Im going to guess his handlers lined that up cuz I agree hes very smart

I was really pissed to find out its only the 'challengers' fighting tonite... All the big fights on the strikeforce card are tommoro night... Fedor vs Rogers included....

Was I alone in thinkin this?
