Anxiety/Depression

From a nutritional standpoint I would make sure I had a fair amount of GOOD fats in my diet. Coconut oil being paramount, but many others including avocado are great too. A b-multiple, having a good BREAKFAST (berry and juice smoothie with things like b pollen, lecethin, organic almonds, and something green), vitamin d (also good for the flu season). Exercise goes a long way. There is a web site called earthclinic.com. It is the place I go before all others, when researching a health topic on the internet. It has nothing to do with weed and is a not for profit organization that has a lot of EXTREMELY useful information regarding a number of ailments. I hope the mentioning of this website doesn't contradict the TAO of this web-board. Getting back to basics, talking with someone, and support of your weed-peers could go a long way. Take care and stay out of the circular downward thoughts! 1Q

My mrs suffers from chronic anxiety, as with a lot of 'mental' illness it is very complicated and requires a lot of self help and 'changing' of the way you look at/ think of things.

With weed you need to find the strains that are going to be right for you ! she finds that heavy (mostly indica dom) strains help her as they almost 'block' these irrational thoughts.. some people find sativas a bit to 'thought provoking' but as i say it is a personal thing.

Some good suggestions have been made already Mandala, Djshorts, growdoc seeds are all a good starting places to find what you need!

good luck and positive vibes!!

if you guys dont mind, there is a more holistic approach to combine with the herb. first, check if your water is flouridated. if yes, drink distilled or other non flouridated. second, avoid processeds foods:sugar, artificial sugars, corn syrup etc. meat ain the best thing either. third, start some sort of meditation practice like yoga, chi gong whatever, relax on a couch even. swimming gym and sports blen dwell with mind meditation. this will allow you to smoke any weed you want. i suffer from the same inherent problems, but dont vibe with pills and artificial band aid style solutions, oh, stop watching tv at all cost k? i know how you feel man. it took 6 years for me to figure all this out, hope it helps you man, d
DMT, all that advice rocks man, I'm still tryin to kick the bullshit pills they put me on ten years ago, just realising that tv is complete bullshit, need to get back to swimming and the gym, been meditating a lot, but most of all as soon as I find a variety of herb that solves my brain's issues, that's going to play a large part in my mood control. Finding reading this very interesting. Thanks all, great thread.

Since I can't take time to quote all of you individually...

I want to thank every single person who posted here not only does your advice help
but knowing that this community cares for you is a great feeling.

Were a family, and we need to spread a message and never give up!

I am going to maybe get some Nepalese Jam seeds from Ace and get some Strawberry Cough for 60 1/8th at my closest dispensary.

Anyways more suggestions and comments are always appreciated!

Oh yeah!
Why I don't like an indica dominant high.. when my body goes numb and I can't think well
It makes me sort of DOWN instead of UP!

Thanks for the input everyone.. luckily there is a dispensary near my area that is great and very generous with prices.. I want to get some Satori and Ice Cream for sure I have heard many good things about them.

Anyone know about strawberry cough, the real deal?
Its at the club and I want to know about the strain..

strawberry cough is the most mood lifting strain I've ever smoked. It's been my favorite smoke for 8 years. smoking some makes your day better guaranteed. I also suffer from anxiety and depression. herb doesn't necessarily cure it, but if I'm feeling particularly bummed one day, cough will for sure put a smile on my face.

Williams Wonder x Sour Diesel is the best anti-depressant I have ever had!

Very interesting cross and sounds very potent, due to the fact both
those strains are extremely good.

Hard to get access to that particular cross though any ideas?

i find that stopping the internal dialogue is so important too. in silence there is no mood, no worry, no stress, just peace and stillness

So HerbGlaze, my partner n i have been using it for a while now with exelent yields buds so dence is not funny, high and not to mention anti depressent, with all that taste n smell how could i think of anything else, 600 grams a square meter, my pad smelling like strawberries.
Passion seeds has registered the S.C but i found this selective cut deep in the woods up in Mendocino county years ago,one hell of a strain, potent both body n mental high with a sour hint on it.

Death to the EGO is essential in order to be at peace. Doing it totally is impossible but limiting its nasty tentacles (pruning the Ego if you will) brings true peace when done right.

After smoking some lavender recently, I have found that it is amazing for anxiety/depression... Every time I smoke lavender, I am as mellow/happy/chill than ever!

I have both chronic intractable pain issues and severe anxiety, so I hear you. I use morphine for my physical pain and MMJ for the anxiety and the depression that follows the anxiety. I've tried apollo 11, c99, flo, trainwreck, white widow, blackberry, mardoc, ice cream, amazonia, and opium strains over the last ten years. I have to say that I have found the ice cream and opium to be my favorites for the anxiety. I'm limited to what I grow outside each years, hence the short list vs the time period. But the ice cream is by far the best if you are also able to grow your own. To go to a clinic would be way out of my price range, at the same time I use about 3/4 ~ 1 oz a week. Oregon limits you to 6 flowering plants. Each one of my ice creams put out > 1.5 lbs. I was disappointed that I grew both the ice cream and opium this year as the results of vaporizing are about the same. But the ice cream has rock hard nugs vs the opium's fluffy and loose buds. Also I had no trouble cloning the ice cream but failed twice with the opium clones (I had used female seeds), while the other clones would be ok, no problems. Hope the info helps in making your decision.

Salvia Divinorum did the trick for me. Rough but extremely enriching experience.

OK, back to the subject:

I recently found that Northern Lights x Blueberry does wonders to quiet down nerves and the blues.

There is also a Romulan x Blueberry cross with many helpful qualities.

As mentioned earlier, heavy narcotic Indicas work great, adding Blueberry imparts some dreamy, blissy quality. It gives "soul" to the stone.

Sometimes you have to be ripped away from yourself for a few minutes to lose that pesky ego. The more LSD and DMT I use, the less my ego gets out of hand.

as far as smoke goes, dude here says the indicas aren't his thing. I would say Strawberry cough or a nice mild pheno of super silver haze would be a good uplifting smoke for depression and anxiety. yeah the indica will help it too, but it will also put him out of commission during the day. gotta have that up smoke to keep you on the level.

Yeah... sorry for the overlook.

In that case I would also agree with the Strawberry Cough suggestion.

Other ones: Kali Mist, Mango Haze.

SMALL tokes during the day are the key.

i don't have the depth of experience that i see with many here, but i have been wrestling with moderate depression/anxiety for quite some time
i see you didn't care much for much for indica's, i was similar in that respect
anyhow, i read up on things, and remembered experiences from years ago
sativa and anxiety did not mix for me, at least for many strains
so i grew out a nl#5 with a small amount of amber
tried it for a few weeks, it had a pretty sharp head rush, didn't like that much and actually made me anxious for the 1st half hour or so
but i kept with it, and now the head rush has really quieted down, seem to have developed a tolerance, and i don't pass out from it, the low amber makes it fairly functional
it really does do a job on the anxiety, not bad for a plain old indica
it seems to make me feel better the longer i smoke it, may not be a solution for you but don't totally discount indica's, you may find one that fits your needs

An antidepressant like Prozac or Trazodone might help. But nothing beats the occasional Xanax. Most people on here will say stay away from those medications, but they have there place if your anxiety/depression is bad enough.

Just don't use Xanax regularly. Because if you do, you'll have a helluva time getting off it, if you ever do. It's kind of a medication for life. Kind of like nicotine.
