4 x 8 tent and a multi-flow

Looking at getting a multi-flow system from green tree

Multi Flow Hydroponic System - Greentrees Hydroponics

my question is, with a pair of 1000watt HPS bubls, and assuming a veg height of 12-14 inches...How many buckets should i get for the 8 x 4 flowering tent?

should i get: the 12 pot system? the 24 pot system? Or the 12 pot system with a 6pot add-on?

Thank you for your advice.

Using C02 we run 12 plants per 1000. We average 3 zips each. In your case I'd run 24, flower at 18", bend as necessary. Use cages if necessary but we use the nets. I've had two cages fall over in the past. Never with the nets.

I was thinking about putting 16 plants per 1K, having 1 plant psf, sog style. I think that would work pretty good if you flowered them when they were short. I have 8 buckets in a 2x4 tent, and they would have been a lot better if I flowered them when they were smaller. I learned for next time, even though the plants I have vegging are already too big for my liking.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Really appreciate it

PieEyed, What strain are you running in your tent?

I think 24 buckets also sounds ideal, that way you can do a 8 x 3 grid of buckets and still have a bit of room between them.

Thanks again for the help

if i read correctly those are 3.5 gal buckets you have
I run an ebb and grow which is the same thing only with smaller buckets-2 gal
I have found it to be a waste if you dont take advantage of that size and veg for awhile small bush/ tree style and spread them out to soak up the light

I mean why try to SOG in big ass buckets like those?
depends on the strain also but I would say 5 plants per light
just my opinion

Jugdishe, How is the Ebb & Grow treating you? I have been on the fence whether to go multi-flow or with the Ebb & Grow. From what I have read, the Multi-flow system is a bit easier to put together and a little better made. Any opinions would be welcome.

I plan on dropping about $4,000 on getting this all set up right. So I am open to any suggestions.

From what I have seen, a lot of people seem to pull about the same yield regardless or number of plants. That is, if they have less plants, the veg them slightly longer, fewer plants, slightly less veg, but compensate with more plants.

Ideally I just want to pull about 0.9-1.2 grams per watt out of this and I will be happy. I am sure it will take some tinkering with to get to that point. I guess the smart choice is to order the 24 bucket system, and if i find it too crowded, reduce the number the next grow.

Both the greentrees and ebbngro systems have 2 gallon buckets. I have 3 of the ebbngrow systems(black) and 1 greentrees system(blue). I havent noticed a difference between the two as far as performance or yield wise.

Thanks for your input PieEyedPiper. You have been a great help. I think Jugdishe glanced at the specs and probably noticed the size of the control unit, which is 3.5 gal. I believe the pots themselves are 2 gal. I hope that clarifies things!

i thought the multiflow system used 5 gallon pots?i guess all the grows i seen on here were only using the MF controller, other wise i would take the 2 gallon pots, less hydroton to clean and you can blow out 5footers in them. one thing is for sure as i know you heard and seen great things from both systems, i am a "former" aero grower simply because of these units, its almost boring with the easy of use. can i comment on numbers per light? i guess it all depends on the hood you are using with a good footprint, i dont like 1k's anymore for heat reasons, so i use 600's but also i have smallish hoods, easycool 6's and i would not go more than 4 pots under one hood in a 3'x4', so for a 1000 watter using one of those xxl hoods you should be good to go with a dozen pots. Yield wise i shoot on a per plant basis, vegg 2-4 weeks depending on strain and aim for 100g per pot

hey pep i cant believe you dont like the cages, a net would inhibit your ability to move pots around, it is a bitch to get the stakes of the cages deep into the clay but will worth it, also i run same line of nutes as you, i slowed down with the LK since it gets thick and likes to build up at the bottom of the pots, so now i just raise pots 1inch higher than controller to get all that out, makes life easier when cleaning time comes, and plants respond well, especially taller ones to lollipopping, like not your average trim the lower 1/3 of the plant, i mean lollipop the shit outa each indivdual branch, flowers were noticably denser, larger and more resin coated...took 2 posts to add my 2 cents, sorry if i crowded your thread, but what can i say i love the shit out of these systems

RB....If you`ve got any DIY skills at all you can build ebb and flow bucket setups waaaaay cheap and put that saved cash ta better use on environment control for the gpw`s you`re talkin bout needing/wanting........

4 grand will take yas a long way ........at least enough for 2 rooms swappin out every 12 hrs a month apart in age where you can harvey every 30-35 days perpetually.....ebb and flow buckets do well in smaller areas......

If you buy pre-made systems just remember the controller buckets will fail at some point, the cheap lil float switches will stick , and your rooms will be flooded........

It`s the salt-buildup on the slides/posts that they go up and down on repeatedly that makes em stick.......Many nightmare flood stories from these setups over the yrs .....Maybe there`s been improvements on the float switches but just be diligent in checking the slides......

I built mine with an extra bucket in each flip room that had an industrial float switch wired back to the feed pump as a failsafe device to kill the pump at a pre-determined juice/fluid level as roots grew and displaced bottom bucket volumes.......This way the feed wasn`t determined by a timer but rather a level of juice ......guaranteeing there`d never be an overflow or roots sittin in juice too long............

The second my feed pump shut off I had a drain pump kicking on and blasting the drain back outta the buckets sucking major O2 down thru the medium in the top buckets for major rootzone aeration 3 times a day lights on feed only.........

35-5 gal buckets in 6x9 rooms with 3-600 bare vertical bulbs with walls and ceilings covered in reflectix .......Small fans underneath each bulb blowing straight up with exhaust thru scrubber pullin out the heat and stank......Active intake as well w/no CO2........

Always 5 lbs plus per room once dialed but monocropping is the only wayta go above 1 gpw mark with proper temps , rh , and min. 50 watts per sq ft.......

Good luck RB.......I was here when this site opened........Post count is misleading .....I ran this system with many rooms for 5 + yrs so if you`ve got questions just Holler.........Go find Ray`s 5400 watt ebb and flow bucket basement grow in Hydro category in old threads.....

Ray of Light used my setup to kill it and he computerised the setup ta run itself like a growtronix but using some of the Euro more detailed computer shit he programmed himself .....

Take care......DHF......:joint:
