need advice on pests

Hey everyone, thanks for having me. This is my first post, I've been browsing on IC mag for awhile, great stuff, it's about time I participate.

2nd grow, indoor soil, 400 watt hps. 4 plants, white widow, white russian, ak-48, and an apple jack. Kinda sporadic and crazy but it'll be fun. Last time, did 2 afghani kush and 2 Gdp. harvested 3.5 oz, 1-2 ft plants. Was happy with outcome for first go, learned a ton of stuff and really enjoying the whole process.

So...pests. I have read a lot and asked around, and just want a final opinion before proceeding. We're only 5 days into flower, so thats good. But last night I discovered immature thrips, not pleasing. Basically, I need to know...

1. is a warm water/mild soap wash safe to spray on my plants? effective?

2. has anyone used fox farm organic bug spray for any pests?? seems cheap and simple. Says it's effective for thrips, and other such insects.

Plan as of now is; pull plants out and spray with a soapy wash to rid of bugs, followed by a rinse of just water and allow to dry for an hour or so under non HID light. Disinfect, vaccum, scrub down closet, possibly bomb?? and lastly, apply a light coat of Fox Farm "dont bug me" spray to leaves and soil to discourage bugs from returning. any advice and/or objections??

Thanks for any advice, help, or replies from anyone, I want to nip this thing in the butt.

Thanks a lot for the replies. Got some of the Monterey spray this weekend an pulled em out tonight and misted them down and let them dry under a fan for an hour or so. Cleaned out the room with a bleach/water mix. Gave em their first bloom feeding and put them back in. I seen zero adult thrips and not a crazy number of babies crawling around, hopefully I got them early, fingers crossed. Hope to throw some forming bud pics in next couple weeks!!

If You Bomb

If You Bomb

Do it with the plants in the room. Then give the room that good cleaning you talked about. The bomb will kill the living bugs and the cleaning the eggs. :2cents: ps you seem to read alot before you ask, I like that. :joint:

BTW, IDK if it's harmful or not to spray soapy water on the plants, but I wouldn't. Good luck.

Soap spray is a very effective pesticide, especially when it comes to soft-bodied insects like aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. It is also moderately effective at killing mites. It only works by contact and it will only be lethal to insects as long as it is wet. It will cause pistils to discolor.

Safer's Insecticidal Soap is widely available.
