http://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=10072&pictureid=192030 It's Time. I flipped my girls today.

I've got 4 Opium. They germed in 24-36 hours. I planted them into 3 litre pots with a layer of hydroton and filled with Bat Special Mix from House and Garden. Two weeks later I transplanted them into there final resting place of 30 litre pots. (see below picture) Plants 3 and 4 have a layer of hydroton and filled with Bat Special Mix, Plant 2 has hydroton mixed in with the Bat Special Mix and plant 1 is just Bat Special Mix. They have bhttp://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=10072&pictureid=192031 een under 400W MH for 35 days since frst being potted. I've fed purely water until now and will not introduce liquid ferts for two weeks yet.

They are now under 400W HPS on 12/12.

Any comments/questions feel free.

http://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=10072&pictureid=195394 Today is a good day. I'm day 5 of 12/12 and all four plants have sexed as females. Ive put a couple of pictures below from plant 3, she has the bigger pistils.

I've added another group shot aswell, I'm wondering whether or not to continue holding off on any liquid ferts yet. There nearly six weeks on water only and look healthy in my opinion.

Any comments on this would be great I'm thinking of holding off another week at least??

Are You looking for any diferences in growth, by doing so?

Yes, they do look really healthy. 30l pot could have quite a lot of food in it. Maby You'll try organic ferts, to keep things as good, as they are now?

Fastnick - To be honest I didn't get enough hydroton in the first place so decided to try different methods. Will probably just get more hydroton for next run.

I'll be using canna terra flores eventually, my aim is to use as little "enhancements" as possible. With the exception of Canna's PK 13/14 which from previous experience works wonders.
I may get into the organic ferts but for now I havn't read enough nor got access to any quickly enough to worry this run.

I'll hold off until I think the plants are lacking in something, then feed. I'm only intending to feed them once every seven days anyway, cutting back to water for the last 20 days or so....thats my intention but we will see what these girlies require.

Paradise Seeds - Opium

I'm on day 9 of 12/12, was due to feed the girls yesterday but didn't get it done. So I've fed them today with 1ml/litre Canna Terra Flores.

I've posted a few pictures below, I'm not sure if I have two different phenos or if the pot placements and fillings are having a bearing.

Plants 3 and 4 are on the left of the tent (Passive intake next to open space) and both have hydroton layers at the bottom of the pots. Plants 1 and 2 are on the right of the tent (passive intake next to wall) and have mainly soil only in them.

Look at the similarities in the two "groups". Any comments feel free. I'm thinking that its the layer of hydroton at the bottom of the pots.

Harvest - Lets hope it doesn't live up to its name but its review instead. If I'd wanted to experience an "opium" high I would have grown me some fucking poppies!!

I'm loving this grow so far.

FastNick - If your checking by at all I've got an observation on the hydroton situation. To recap plant 1 is soil only, plant 2 is soil and a small amount of hydrton mixed and plants 3 and 4 have a hydroton layer at the bottom of the mix. So plants 1 and 2 are growing the same, very bushy and very green. Plants 3 and 4 are growing the same aswell, not very bushy, purple branches and in need of nutes more often.

I think that it's the hydroton doing this and will therefore probably not be using it again in my next run.

I'm into day 14 of 12/12. Plants are all 50-55 cms tall. I'm hoping that plants 3 & 4 grow a mass of bud right up the centre, would like to see that. Plants 1 & 2 just doing there thing. Pics below any comments feel free

Nice work, MG. I have been growing paradise opium this year. I will post a report on it soon as I am 50days + into flowering. My reflections on it so far (haven't smoked any yet, of course) are...

... it's a great strain and not too difficult to grow. I had a few difficulties early in veg but as you are past that stage, seems that you didn't have the same probs or that you have got over them

I started with 5 fem seeds. One dud. So grew out 4..., ended up getting rid of one as it was a bit of a runt and I wanted more space for the other girls...

.. got two phenos

...one pheno as decribed by paradise/bbob very large top flowers/cola (huge!) - seems to be slightly happier grown straight up (of the two with this pheno, one was LSTed and one grown straight up). The plant grown straight up has a cola bigger than a wine bottle.

...second pheno was, as far as I can tell, indica-leaning. It has significantly smaller yield and smaller calyxes on the flowers, tighter buds, possibly more resinous, finished in 50 days (I think the others will be 60-65 days). Still drying this one.

I didn't get any of the "grapey"/purpley phenos described in bbob.

Neither pheno smells that strongly while growing (in hydro, have been flushing for nearly 2 weeks now) but the smell is nice, very promising.

I reckon I am looking at 5-6oz total from 3 finished plants grown hydro under 125w CFL (veg), 250w HPS (12/12)

Hope yours goes well. Come and visit my report when I post it!

Limey - I would like to see your thread when you post it...let me know if you dont mind.

Reading what you've said and looking at another post from a grower who used a 250 HPS I'm in for a real treat in the weeks to come.

I'm hoping my plants on the right (3 & 4) will be the big wine bottle size cola's. If not then I'm not expecting much from them.

I've had a close looke today, plants 3 & 4 are spitting out trichs already...I will try to get a pic when I can but I'm not all that good at taking them.

I read a post also that said he got 14 ounces from 5 plants under a 400W.

Sure, no worries MG. Did my final watering this morning. Pumps off Wednesday night. Light off Thursday night. Harvest Friday night!

This strain seems to develop very quickly and ripen quite slowly. So I could tell after a few weeks in to 12/12 how big the plants/buds were going to be quite early (ok, they have fattened up more than I expected). Gratifyingly, they stopped growing upwards (much) fairly early on in the harvest. Ripening does seem slow though (doesn't it always) - well, this all true apart from my indica pheno which ripened fast but with concomitant smaller yield. The upside is that this indica pheno knocked out some small but amazing buds. They have been drying, slowly, since Friday and they really hum.

14 oz under 400w is a good show, though in line with my expectations. If I cloned the biggest of my plants I could get 300-350g under a 250w, I reckon (mine in hydro though, and I have a very productive set up - see my 2008 caramella grow - link below - if you haven't checked it ; I have improved my rig too :canabis:).

So, wishing you well with yours!

Limey - I'm glad to hear that the stretch is short lived in these opium, I think I may have a lovely setup for the Opium if that is the case. I look forward to your post once completed

Noreason - Will check in again on your thread in a few weeks time.

Good Luck to both of you.
