my house was also swarmed in the past couple of days, and i, too, collected a bunch in a water bottle ... my girlfriend has a fear of them though and thinks that they are the "bad kind" of ladybugs that "bite", i've never heard of this, but she swears that they're swarming her to bite her lol

You can keep them in the fridge for later use. So long they do not freeze they will live.

Good to know, thanks...anybody here keep a couple of spiders {even daddy long legs} in their grow room/cab?
I find if I hang an open box near the top of my cab after putting it outside so some spiders take up residence in it, they keep A LOT of insects @bay...and why not?...my cab is warm, the light and heat attract the food and the human don't disturb the spider!...everyone benefits!:woohoo:

One mans trash is another treasure.... just had to order some to kill off some white flies. sure wish we had that problem down here. bringing in them and some nematodes for fungus gnats. time for these fuckers to die...lol

My bloom is about 50 square feet maybe less? dunno for sure.

I hope they eat up all the spider mites, I don't think that is their favorite food, but I don't have too many left.

SNS: I found that taking a Mosquito Dunk and crumbling a little on top of EVERY new bag or pot of soil you use will keep all the fungus gnats away forever.

Just add it to the pot when you transplant, and never see a gnat again ever.

No need for anything else, as this will kill em all off in about 3 weeks, never to be seen again.

BUT, ya gotta add it to every new pot of dirt, cause those rascals are in the potting soil when ya get it.

Add about 1/4 tsp of dry dunk to each pot of dirt. it does not matter if it dries out in between watering.

thanks lola, I wish I had asked you about this a year ago...lol. Damn things invaded my closet grow & i researched the hell out of em and never heard about these. gonna see about getting some even though the other stuff is already ordered. come to think of it, these should be popular as hell down here, lots of areas with mass mosquito problems and the county uses a spray truck to attempt to kill them off. the area im in now is good but a few months ago we were more out west (read inland...lol) and they were nasty as hell.

I had a boss at my last job that had all kinds of weird sayings and phrases would sometimes say, "They got skeeters out there big enough to butt fuck a turkey buzzard....standing up!"...lol. damn near true too, I seen some that were over an inch tall and near 2" long. pulled up under a tree and about 40 of em hovered up to the truck window like harrier jets. ME:"uh, boss...we gotta move"

thanks again:joint:

If you keep putting them in each day, it should clear up a lot though...I have a huntsman spider that patrols my grow room...and keep daddy longlegs near by...the odd orb weaver is good too...

Perhaps we ought to have a
Critters&Crawlies thread...

Pests and how to manage them...mice-rats-possums-squirrels-chipmunks-cats-dogs-grazers-invaders-WalkingDead:)

GrowRoomArmy...Beneficial Insects-Animals-Reptiles, who eats what and how to keep/raise them.

Just spitballin'....I'm full'O'ideas today:)

I don't feel I have the required Knowledge or Skills...but if you do, I'll tag along and contribute...kill the mice, zap the bugs and avoid the spiders is about the extent of my skills at the mo :) ....It would be interesting to know how to knock up a bug house for bennies...and their life cycles so we have a handle on what we're doing...feeding & breeding practices...temp & environment management...predators, prey & collateral damage!

I feel a research vacation coming on! ;)

EDIT:
First we have to figure out what we WANT & NEED to know...Types of critters...breeding populations, lifecycles and environment...supplimentary foods...Do's&Don't's...Can eggs be stored for future use?, if so, how long? Reptiles can be good also, so we'll need some Herp. advice...Damn You LolaGal, you got me thinking! ;) ...and while I was smoking too! :) That's just plain cruel, girl...now this entire stone will have direction!...wheell, @ least I'm not gonna be just 'wasting time'...gonna have to construct an outline now...then flesh it out...then get it in shape... TeeHeeteeheeteehee :) ....
