What do you consider a Micro Grow?

Im just curious what you consider a Micro Grow?

Do you base it off of wattage? Square feet of grow space? Plant numbers? Anything else? :joint:

I guess when I think of Micro Grows I think of like 150w or less grows. What should define a Micro Grow specifically?

hmm i think of it as definitely smaller than a closet. no taller then 4ft or so i'd way nothing wider then 3-4ft either.. maybe even smaller... but not any bigger then that.

and watts? I wouldn't go off that, if you can get a 1000w in a pc case and grow weed, its still micro right?

lol scrub please dont try to grow with a 1000w hps in a pc case...

A few things I'd consider if I was drawing the line between grow sizes: Micro would be most anything in a cabinet. Pipedream's 250w wardrobe is a good example of where I'd draw the line. But theres plenty of 400w grows that I'd still consider micro grows. Closet grows are an area where you could do micro or larger grows. I dont think anything in 5 gallon buckets or bags could be considered micro. But with no "medium grows" its hard to differentiate sizes I guess.

Random interjection: Would you consider a 3.5ft W x 1.5ft D x 3ft H cab... with maybe .. 500 watts of CFL a micro grow?

Please excuse if that wasn't said in jest. Made me laugh at the thought. An AS/400 computer chassis, maybe?

I read an opinion that anything less than 600w HID is micro. I've got 150w so mine must be nano.

haha yes, twas in jest, but i don't agree with whoever said anything under 600w is micro.. because a closet is just not micro... period... its a fucking closet lol. are the clothe you wear micro too? are the shoes in the closet micro?

and the pipedream cab is pushing it, but considering i think he coulda shaved a foot or two off it and still been good i dunno.

Yep, a closet up grade would be a limo compared to the moped I'm pedaling now.

To me, micro means you can pick it up with one hand and carry it around with ease.

Wow that really limits a micro grow. I consider my 210W CFL 3 square foot dresser micro, but id have a hard time to carry it around with one hand lol. Not sure what exactly should define a micro grow. I agree wattage shouldnt be a factor but rather square footage of the floorspace. I think growing in an armoire would still be micro even though some are 6' tall. Good thread and I'm looking forward to more replys. I guess IMO most anything in a small dedicated cab should be considered micro. Peace

Any grow that gets the comment "You should at least go with a 400w hps" or "you won't actually grow anything with less than a 600w hps" is micro to me.

It's an x-factor sort of thing. An equation balancing size, wattage and number of plants maybe?

IMO, < 3sq ft and/or < 400 watts and/or < 6 plants (though SOGs in tiny planters make this a tough line in the sand to draw) would be micro. Just about anything smaller than a 3 drawer dresser would likely be considered micro.

While no one died and made me King, I say this is a micro grow.

I just cant see calling a grow larger than 1 square foot micro. Small yes, micro, no.
