Has anyone watched the Simpsons over the last few years???

What a ridiculous drop in quality of a once great show. I am no pronouncing it DEAD. They killed the Simpsons years ago, brought a good product for teh movie and then right back to shit again.

That THOH last night was terrible, I feel stupider for watching it

What really pisses me off the most, is that they have destroyed all the older episodes for me too, they are on tv everyday about 50 times.

So RIP Homer, I am gonna miss you

how many different GOOD ideas can you come up with after 20 years?
the simpsons have done everything already.

ftr, i havent watched em in along time.
maybe 12 or so years.

I used to watch it everyday at 5:30 and 10:30 every night and new episodes on Sundays. I worshiped them.... But yeah that was a long time ago, I cant bring myself to watch the new ones. They just arnt funny. The old classics still make me laugh tho.

The episode where Homer gets his MJ license is hilarious

Yes, it's sad that the show has continued to air in such a degraded state. I caught a glimpse of it recently, for the first time in several years. Pathetic. The only TV I watch is DVD/pre-recorded stuff. No commercials that way. No futile channel-surfing through TV wasteland either. Pre-screening of entertainment is time better spent, IMHO. I do have the Simpsons seasons 1 thru 12 on DVD. Great stuff.

I was a fan of Matt Groening (Simpsons creator) before the TV show started. Used to love reading his "Life in Hell" strip in the Dallas Observer, back in the 80's and early 90's.

I still love them. While a lot of the episodes are pure fluff they still do make some important political statements. Last season there was the one about illegal immigration where the they built the wall with norwegian? laborers.

I always thought the quality dropped considerably after season 3 or 4,
I'm sure they starting changing/firing/adding writers at that time.......

a friend I had bitched about the lack of the edge to the humor when they went from the shorts on The Tracy Ullman Show to their own show on Fox but yeah time to put it to bed guys

A great show (in my skewed opinion) is Duckman, you can find it through "alternative" sources ///EDIT/// Hells to the yeah, it is available legitimately now

///DOUBLE EDIT/// Here is the first episode complete on youtube, enjoy

P.S. In the first season all music is from Frank Zappa

I stopped watching it a while back 2004+ It started getting really weird and religious a lot. Maybe it changed now but felt like the Bush admin was writing for them or something.

The Simpsons are still good for me. They change with the times just like the other TV shows. After 20 years they don't seem as fresh but, that's true with Gen. Hosp. and the Price is Right too.:2cents:

Different show for a different time. Just like how we liked the show during our teens, theyre still targeting that demographic. simply put, theyre creating new episodes that would appeal to today's teenagers whos means of entertainment are a bit different than ours during our time... or at least mine was

You could be right, maybe I have just out grown them

But I still find tons of older stuff funny, it just seems like they have given up trying to be funny.

This recent episode, was 22 minutes of full boredom, NASTY

I think we need Conan O'Brien back as a writer, then it was funny

I love Conan O'Brien. He is a comic genius. The THOH episodes were always the silliest and had zero message. I think those episodes are aimed a lot more at little kids. There are very few shows on tv with any political edge. Where else will you see that a huge moron would be in charge of safety at a nuclear power plant. Or that our american schools are in terrible shape. I am still constantly impressed by some of the stuff they touch on. It doesn't push the political boundaries like South Park but they do things in such a smart, intelligent, delicate, subtle way.

I became spoiled by 'South Park' years ago. Since then I've never looked back. The Simpsons are lame, and have been for the past 10 years.

I have watch Simpsons since they were on the Tracy Allman show/// Every season religiously up to about the last 5 seasons or so...just major decline in humor, and all the corporate propaganda thrown in and subliminal messages / agendas just completely destroyed the show...sell outs/// Never forget that time Homer pulled into a mcD's for a coke..//and the movies? nothing but BS hidden agendas/ Bart Drinking? wtf??? CRY!!!:(

I agree man conan episodes rocked///

so many good times and memories, truly i cant picture my life without Simpsons over last 20 years///like Pink Floyd and ganja, they too were a building block and will all ways have a place in a happy part of my mind///

OOOOO SMOKE ONE TO THE DAYS OF SIMPSONS GLORY YEARS!!:joint:

It really is awful now, but I'm not going to complain because they gave me at least 12 years of free, high quality entertainment. That's a REALLY long time for a television series, animated or not.

I feel justified complaining about "Futurama" however, which was cancelled way too soon. I don't consider the new, straight to DVD episodes part of the original series.
