curious if anyone has any experience with a macro lense on a xti. I use one and only have a kit lense , but this christmas I will likely buy myself a macro lense. Thinking about getting one with stabilization if available. Thanks for any help you can give :1help::joint:

Texi that XTI would be the same, pretty much, as any Canon body and I work with 20D. My favorite lens is my Sigma 105MM macro which I use with extension tubes for macro work. Although most of my work I consider extreem close up rather than true macro. The MPE 65 by Canon is one of the better macro lenses and I don't have one. Keep in mind, or study up on, the other factors in shooting macros, lighting tripods, camera shake, etc..it is not easy to get good images. Good luck and we await your images after your present arrives at Christmas..DD

sigma 105mm for macro, canon mpe-65 for extreme macro.

i have a 105 and it works great. much cheaper than the mpe.

the mpe-65 takes closer shots but be aware the range is so close you wont really be able to get full bud shots.

with the 105 you will have to stand back some but you can still get full shots and close ups.

my kit lense takes a alright regular pic and at some point ill get a ultra low fstop probably fixed ratio lense for normal shots. Will check into the sigma but probably splurge on the mpe 65. Thanks for response =)
